A Frightful Faux Pas: The Principal’s Spooktacular Entrance
Episode 12, titled “Arashi no Hi” (A Stormy Day), transported the students of Rasetsu Gakuen into an unusual situation. As part of an evacuation drill, they were all tasked with spending the night together in the gymnasium. While Shiki and his companions were engrossed in telling chilling ghost stories, the Principal mysteriously made her appearance. The Principal is already quite a peculiar character, typically concealing her face with a cloth adorned with a pentagram. However, on this particular night, her attire was even more unsettling: she wore a deep kasa (a traditional straw hat), played a shakuhachi (bamboo flute), and was surrounded by eerie floating fireballs, making her an even more formidable and spectral presence.
Poor Shiki, who secretly harbors a deep fear of ghosts, mistakenly believed the Principal was an actual specter. He was plunged into utter panic, shouting, “No, no, no! I can’t handle ghosts!!” In his terror, he involuntarily unleashed his formidable “Kesshoku Kaihou” (Blood Erosion Release) ability, causing him to wildly fire his gun. The gymnasium dramatically collapsed, leaving Shiki and the other students who were with him completely unconscious amidst the rubble. It was a chaotic scene, all stemming from a simple misunderstanding and a principal’s rather elaborate prank!
Fans React to the Hilarious Mayhem
This delightful anime-original episode sparked a wave of excitement across the internet! Fans enthusiastically shared their reactions, with many commenting on how entertaining it was to see “student-like scenes” and how “Shiki being bad with ghosts is absolutely adorable.” Some even likened the atmosphere to a “school trip, which was great.” The Principal’s surprisingly playful (yet terrifying) appearance, disguised as a ghost, also garnered significant buzz. Viewers exclaimed, “The Principal was quite the prankster!” and “Who would’ve thought the Principal would make such a dramatic entrance!” clearly showing how much they enjoyed this unexpected twist.
Discovering the World of Tougen Anki
For those new to this captivating series, Tougen Anki is based on a popular manga by Urushihara Yuuki, currently serialized in “Weekly Shounen Champion” (Akita Shoten). This groundbreaking dark hero oni tale reimagines the universally known Japanese folklore of “Momotarou.” It delves into the intense and ancient conflict between those who carry the blood of oni (demons) and those who are descendants of Momotarou himself. The story begins with Ichinose Shiki, a young boy living a seemingly ordinary human life, whose world is abruptly shattered when he is attacked by a mysterious man affiliated with the enigmatic “Momotarou Kikan” (Momotarou Organization). This encounter pulls him into a thrilling world of supernatural battles and unveils his own hidden heritage.
Episode 12: “Arashi no Hi” (A Stormy Day) – Full Plot Summary
Rasetsu Gakuen found itself embroiled in a severely stormy day. After completing their rigorous training, Ichinose Shiki and his companions were enjoying a moment of relaxation in the communal bath when Mudano suddenly announced an evacuation drill. All the students were gathered in the gymnasium, where they were instructed to spend the entire night as part of the exercise. With no challenging tasks or harsh assignments for once, everyone, though a bit wary, eagerly enjoyed the provided meal. A single leftover pudding, however, became the catalyst for a hilarious quarrel between Shiki and Ousaki. It turns out Ousaki has a secret sweet tooth and became genuinely furious, almost escalating the fight into a serious showdown, but Mudano intervened with a stern scolding, diffusing the tension before it could get out of hand.
Later that night, Shiki and the others separated into boys’ and girls’ sleeping areas. The boys decided to tell ghost stories, and despite his best efforts, Shiki, who is secretly terrified of ghosts, struggled immensely to endure the spooky tales. Suddenly, the lights flickered and went out. Ousaki pointed towards something eerie in the darkness, where a chilling white shadow seemed to float ominously—what could it be?
