“Your Catchphrases Lack Energy!” Kobayashi Chiaki Flinches at the AD’s Honest Feedback, While Yasumoto Hiroki Shows His Skillful Maneuvering

On October 6th, 2025 (Monday), at 10 PM, the 20th episode of “Seiyuu to Yoru Asobi Getsuyoubi” from ABEMA’s “Anime LIVE Channel” aired. This episode challenged the voice actors with a special segment titled “Let’s Do AD Yoshida’s Project!” — featuring a unique plan devised by the program’s Assistant Director, Yoshida.

From the very beginning of the show, AD Yoshida delivered some frank feedback directly to Kobayashi Chiaki-san: “There’s something I’ve been noticing, Chiaki-san… The tension in your catchphrases, like the title call ‘Konnai mo Issho ni Yoru Asobi Shiyouze!’ (Let’s play together tonight!) or ‘Konya Nani Shite Asobu?’ (What are we playing tonight?), feels a bit low.” He added, “There’s a noticeable sense of being too relaxed…” Yasumoto Hiroki-san burst into laughter at this, exclaiming, “Too relaxed (laughs)! You shouldn’t be relaxed!” Kobayashi Chiaki-san quickly retorted, “But that’s the charm of Monday! Why do I have to listen to such criticism? ‘Seiyuu to Yoru Asobi’ airs from Monday to Sunday, plus the ‘Tsunagu’ broadcast, so if everyone is high-energy all the time, we’d simply get exhausted. I believe it’s perfectly fine to be laid-back on a Monday, when work and school are just beginning. Isn’t that precisely why Yasumoto-san and I are the perfect hosts for Mondays?”

As AD Yoshida fell silent, Yasumoto-san quickly jumped in to defend Kobayashi Chiaki-san, saying, “Don’t say such harsh things! Don’t put him on the spot like that! He’s already getting pressured by the staff saying, ‘We’re counting on you today!’, so it’s incredibly tough if he’s getting squeezed from all sides!” When Kobayashi Chiaki-san playfully asked, “Why are you taking their side, Yasumoto-san?”, Yasumoto-san replied with a laugh, “What else am I supposed to do?!” and the studio erupted in laughter at his quick wit.

Kobayashi Chiaki-san: “Yasumoto-san appeared in my dream yesterday.” Yasumoto Hiroki-san: “Scary!”

Next up was the segment “Oshiete, Communication Kouza” (Tell Me, Communication Workshop). Yasumoto Hiroki-san and Kobayashi Chiaki-san took on the task of helping AD Yoshida with his concern about not knowing how to respond when asked sudden questions. AD Yoshida confessed, “When someone asks, ‘What did you do this weekend?’, if I say ‘Nothing,’ the conversation just stops. And it’s not like I did anything particularly special.” Yasumoto Hiroki-san humorously suggested, “Why not answer with a question? Like, ‘Nothing. What about you?’ and suddenly point at them (laughs).” The “ABEMA” comment section quickly filled with reactions like “Sounds like him wwww.” Kobayashi Chiaki-san jokingly interjected, “That would ruin Yoshida-san the working adult!”, which only sparked more laughter from everyone.

Following this, Yasumoto Hiroki-san and Kobayashi Chiaki-san engaged in a lively challenge where they had to naturally weave in questions from cue cards into their talk, taking turns as the lead conversationalist. During a casual conversation about “recent obsessions,” Kobayashi Chiaki-san playfully asked Yasumoto-san, “Don’t you get told that your current hairstyle suits you best?” Yasumoto-san immediately shot back, “No, I don’t.” His quick and blunt response drew explosive laughter from the staff. Kobayashi Chiaki-san, unfazed, continued, “I’ve always thought this, but you actually resemble a friend of mine from middle school.” Yasumoto-san once again responded with a straightforward “I don’t know.” Kobayashi Chiaki-san, looking genuinely perplexed, exclaimed, “Is that how this segment works!?”, to which Yasumoto-san offered a convincing and logical explanation: “Even if it were true, if there’s no immediate follow-up, I can’t really expand on it. This time, saying ‘I don’t know’ prevents any unnecessary or complicated developments. It would be much tougher if I had to expand the conversation with questions like ‘Oh, what kind of person was that friend? What are they doing now?'” His reasoning was met with understanding.

Later, when Kobayashi Chiaki-san lightheartedly mentioned, “Yasumoto-san appeared in my dream yesterday,” Yasumoto-san reacted with an emphatic “Scary!” He then amusingly added, “We’re not the type of relationship for you to be dreaming about me. I don’t dream about Chiaki.” Kobayashi Chiaki-san, ever quick-witted, playfully countered, “Can I write a novel? Titled ‘I Don’t Dream About Chiaki’…”, leading to yet another round of laughter filling the studio.

The episode also featured other entertaining games where participants could win bento tickets for each victory against AD Yoshida, such as the “Hissatsu Waza Shinri Game” (Special Move Psychological Game) and “Dekite Touzen Tape Kousaku Battle” (Tape Craft Battle: You Should Be Able to Do It Naturally). These diverse and engaging segments created an exciting and lively atmosphere throughout the entire show.
