Initial D: A Legacy of Speed and Passion

Initial D, a motorsports manga by Shigeno Shuuichi, captivated readers from 1995 to 2013 in “Young Magazine.” The story follows the journey of protagonist Fujiwara Takumi, who, alongside his beloved AE86, known as the Hachi-Roku, battles various street racers in his quest to become the “fastest on the public roads.” When the TV anime adaptation began airing in April 1998, its intense car racing scenes deeply resonated with many young people and car enthusiasts, becoming a massive hit that spawned five seasons and even theatrical films.

From Initial D to MF Ghost and Beyond

Building on this legacy, MF Ghost continued the saga, depicting “MFG,” a real-world public road car race battle set in the near-future world of Initial D. This series ran from 2017 to 2025 in “Young Magazine” and is eagerly anticipating the broadcast of its 3rd Season in January 2026. Currently, the “public road fastest series” continues with its latest installment, Subaru to Suisei.

A Realistic Taste of the Touge

The special exhibition booth, designed with Initial D as its core theme, is located within a section of the “TOKYO SUPER CAR DAY” area in South Hall 3 of the “Japan Mobility Show 2025.”
