The Day of Sound and Its Anime Connection
December 6 is known as the “Day of Sound.” This commemorative day originates from the fact that on the same date in 1877, Thomas Edison successfully recorded and reproduced sound with his self-invented phonograph, marking a pivotal moment in history.
Anime, in its rich tapestry of storytelling, also features a multitude of characters whose identities are deeply intertwined with sound. These “sound-attribute” characters are depicted in diverse and fascinating ways: They might wield sound or music as a formidable weapon in battle, possess extraordinary hearing abilities that set them apart, or even have musical motifs like notes, speakers, or instruments intrinsically incorporated into their character designs. The creativity in portraying these characters is truly captivating!
Calling All Fans: Our “Sound-Attribute” Character Survey!
To celebrate this special day and explore the unique appeal of these characters, Anime! Anime! is launching a new reader survey titled “Speaking of ‘Sound-Attribute’ Characters, Who Comes to Mind?” We invite you to freely share your thoughts by naming your favorite characters and the works they appear in.
Please note: Eligible characters for this survey include those from two-dimensional content such as anime (TV broadcasts, movies, streaming, OVA, etc.), games, CD series, and manga. Each participant may submit one response. Basic information like gender and age are optional fields, and you can choose not to answer them. Everyone is welcome to participate!
The deadline for submissions is November 24. We will publish the survey results as soon as they are compiled, so look forward to seeing the fan favorites!
※This survey is part of a broader consciousness study regarding our readers’ current interest and attention toward anime works and characters. The results are not intended to determine superiority or inferiority among any characters or works. We hope this article serves as an opportunity to discover new works or characters, or to deepen your understanding and interest in existing ones.
