About Blue Lock
The original work for Blue Lock is a soccer manga that won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shonen category. Penned by Kaneshiro Muneyuki with art by Nomura Yusuke, it’s serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine.”
The story revolves around the “Blue Lock” project, a program established by the Japan Football Union to cultivate a striker who can lead Japan to World Cup victory. 300 high school students, all forwards, are gathered for this purpose. The series depicts their intense selection process as they fight for survival to become the world’s best striker.
The TV anime adaptation aired for two consecutive cours starting in October 2022. In April 2024, the movie Gekijouban Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi- was released. The second season of the TV anime began airing from October 5th with a total of 14 episodes. The franchise has also seen diverse expansions, including an app game and stage plays, generating significant buzz.
