Celebrate Kuromi’s 20th Anniversary with an Elegant Afternoon Tea Party!

Sanrio’s popular character Kuromi is celebrating her 20th anniversary with a special event, the “KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party,” held at The Westin Sendai hotel in Miyagi Prefecture starting July 19th. Guests can enjoy a truly elegant experience with special menus crafted just for the occasion.

Kuromi is a character who might look like a bit of a rough-and-tumble sort, but she’s actually incredibly girlish and sentimental. She debuted in 2005 and is self-proclaimed “My Melody’s rival.” She absolutely adores handsome guys! Born on Halloween (October 31st), her charm points are her black hood and pink skull motif. Her favorite food is rakkyou (pickled shallots), and her hobby is keeping a diary. She’s also really into romance novels and her favorite color is black. She’s currently working hard to Kuromi-fy the entire world!

To celebrate Kuromi’s 20th anniversary, the “KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party” is based on the concept of “a graceful tea time enjoyed by a charming Kuromi adorned with glittering pearls and delicate lace on her hood.” They will offer special sweets inspired by Kuromi, along with original menu items incorporating local Sendai specialties. There are weekday (“Weekday”) and weekend (“Weekend”) events, offering different afternoon tea experiences.

The sweets lineup includes delights such as the “Blueberry and Passion Fruit Parfait,” which takes inspiration from Kuromi’s distinctive hood, fluffy “Kuromi Marshmallows,” and the “Banana and Black Sesame Baked Cheesecake” adorned with a pink ribbon.

For savories, you can enjoy items like the “Sendai Specialty Zunda Mochi and Strawberry Cream Sandwich” topped with zunda mochi, and the “Miyagi Prefecture Shinrin Dori and Pearl Onion Brochette” which includes Kuromi’s favorite rakkyou. These dishes truly let you immerse yourself in Kuromi’s world!

On weekends, in addition to the tea stand items, there’s a buffet-style selection featuring items like “Zunda Sucre” and the “Miyagi Prefecture Bara Nori and Sendai Specialty Sasakamaboko Fritters” coated in seaweed.

Furthermore, a special weekend-only plate is offered as a specialty, featuring moist roasted beef made with A5 rank Miyagi Prefecture Kurihara City Sendai Gyu and flavorful grilled Sendai specialty Gyutan (beef tongue). Refreshing, summery drinks inspired by Kuromi are also available.

Additionally, a special “KUROMI Evening Tea Party” set is available exclusively during weekday dinner hours. This set includes the “Sendai Gyu Roast Beef and Gyutan Platter.”

About the “KUROMI Drink”
Different original optional drinks are offered on weekdays and weekends. The Weekday drink is a refreshing, slightly carbonated drink using butterfly pea, creating an eye-catching gradient. The Weekend drink is a tropical smoothie based on pineapple and coconut milk.

Novelty Item: “Original Can Mirror”
Three designs of can mirrors, featuring original illustrations drawn exclusively for this collaboration and motifed after The Westin Sendai’s interior, are available. One design will be randomly distributed as a novelty item. Guests can also take home the original placemat and table pop.

“KUROMI Evening Tea Party”
An evening tea set is available exclusively during weekday dinner hours. In addition to the three-tiered tea stand, this special set includes the KUROMI Drink Weekday, and a special platter featuring the tender “Sendai Gyu Roast Beef” and “Gyutan Platter”.

This lovely, Kuromi-colored tea party for girls will be held on weekdays from July 22nd (Tuesday) to September 26th (Friday), and also on September 23rd (Tuesday, Holiday).
