Jigoku Sensei Nuubee Anime Announces Theme Songs, New Visual, and PV

Get ready, paranormal fans! The new anime series based on the popular manga Jigoku Sensei Nuubee is set to premiere in July 2025, airing on the TV Asahi network in the “IMAnimation W” slot. Exciting news has just dropped regarding the theme songs: the opening theme will be “P0WER-Akuryou Taisan-” by -Shin Tenchi Kai Byaku Shudan- ZIGZAG, and the ending theme will be “Himawari” by Chilli Beans. To celebrate this announcement, the second main promotional video, featuring both songs, has been released, along with a dynamic new visual showcasing a fierce battle between Nuubee and Tamamo.

**Jigoku Sensei Nuubee** is a fresh anime adaptation of the hugely successful occult hero action manga. Originally serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from 1993 to 1999, the manga, written by Makura Sho and illustrated by Okano Takeshi, boasts an impressive cumulative circulation of 29 million copies.

The series captivated readers with stories drawing from school ghost stories and urban legends, while also thrilling them with the brave actions of Nuyeno Meisuke, known as “Nuubee,” a teacher with spiritual powers who risks his life to protect his students from the threats of yokai and evil spirits. His valor has earned him popularity across generations. The manga previously received a TV anime adaptation from 1996 to 1997, as well as theatrical films and OVAs. In 2014, it was also adapted into a live-action TV drama starring Maruyama Ryuhei.

Now, details about the theme songs for the new anime have been revealed. The opening theme, “P0WER-Akuryou Taisan-,” is performed by **-Shin Tenchi Kai Byaku Shudan- ZIGZAG**, an artist known for their catchy and humorous world-view. The ending theme, “Himawari,” comes from **Chilli Beans.**, popular for their relatable and expressive music. Messages from both artists were also shared alongside this announcement.

The second main PV released incorporates both of these theme songs. The first half of the video, set to the intense sound of the OP theme “P0WER-Akuryou Taisan-“, depicts scenes of various yokai from the series attacking students. The latter half shifts to the emotional melody of the ED theme “Himawari”, showcasing the battle with Tamamo and Nuubee’s desperate efforts to protect his students.

In addition to the PV, a striking new visual was unveiled, illustrating the intense clash between Nuubee and Tamamo. The visual captures the raw energy of their fight, with Nuubee’s Oni no Te (demon hand) meeting Tamamo’s ominous, distinctively shaped “sasumata” (a pole weapon). This visual certainly ramps up the anticipation for the anime’s main story!

Opening Theme: -Shin Tenchi Kai Byaku Shudan- ZIGZAG, Mikoto

When the opportunity for this project came up, I desperately wanted it to happen. I felt there was no other band that would fit the world-view better! So when it was decided, I was trembling with joy. I wrote the song imagining Nuubee’s cool nature while also centering on themes of universal kindness and courage. Personally, I have a lot of attachment to the previous OP song, so I included a little playful nod to elements from it!

Ending Theme: Chilli Beans.

The first image that came to mind was the atmosphere of heading home from school in the evening. After watching the anime, musically, I focused on the strong aspect of the teacher diligently protecting the students! For the lyrics, I depicted the pure feelings of trusting a strong teacher from a student’s perspective! This song became something new for Chilli Beans. as well. I hope it serves as an ending theme that complements the broad and grand world of **Jigoku Sensei Nuubee**! I hope it helps people feel a little more positive about the promise of seeing each other again tomorrow! Thank you!
