Special Program for “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto” Anime to Air Exclusively on ABEMA
On June 20, 2025, when the TV anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto takes a broadcast break for its second season, a special program titled “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto ABEMA Climax Chokuzen Tokuban” will be broadcast exclusively and for free on the “New Future TV” platform ABEMA, starting at 22:30 JST. This program will bring together a stellar cast of voice actors, including Yuuki Aoi, Ootsuka Takeo, Seto Asami, and Nazuka Kaori.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is an anime based on the novel series of the same name by Hyuuga Natsu. Set in the imperial court, the story follows Maomao, a young girl who is a pharmacist and serves as a “poison taster.” Using her extensive knowledge of poisons and medicines, she solves various difficult cases that occur within the court. The series has also been adapted into manga serialized in two monthly magazines, “Big Gangan” and “Sunday GX,” with the cumulative circulation exceeding 40 million copies.
The TV anime first aired continuously for two cours starting in October 2023. It gained significant popularity for its mystery-solving narrative featuring Maomao, the eccentric girl who loves poison, and the comical interactions between Maomao and the enigmatic court official Jinshi. It even reached the number one spot on X (formerly Twitter) trends. The second season has been airing continuously for two cours since January 2025 and is generating even more excitement.
Now, it has been decided that during the broadcast break week on June 20, a special program titled “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto ABEMA Climax Chokuzen Tokuban” will be exclusively broadcast for free on ABEMA starting at 22:30 JST.
Stellar Cast Members Gather for a Special Talk
The program will feature Yuuki Aoi as Maomao, Ootsuka Takeo as Jinshi, Seto Asami as Shisui, and Nazuka Kaori as Suirei. Over the course of 1.5 hours, these stellar voice actors will deliver a special talk, looking back at the second season and highlighting what to look forward to in the upcoming climax.
Full Series Catch-Up Broadcast Also Planned!
Furthermore, it has been announced that all episodes of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto up to the latest broadcast will be available for free viewing in a binge broadcast. Starting from 19:00 JST on June 21, the day after the special program, the first season (all 24 episodes) will be broadcast. On June 22 and 23, the second season up to the latest episode (episodes 25 to 46) will be aired.
