Profile: Taniyama Kishou

Born on August 11, 1975, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Taniyama Kishou made his debut as a seiyuu in 1995. Over the years, he has become known for numerous iconic roles. Some of his major credits include portraying Shinomiya Natsuki in the “Uta no☆Prince-sama♪” series, lending his voice to Jean Kirstein in the “Shingeki no Kyojin” series, and voicing Nakahara Chuuya in the “Bungou Stray Dogs” series. His distinct voice and versatile performances have captivated audiences for decades.

Music Activities with GRANRODEO

Beyond his voice acting career, Taniyama-san is also a celebrated musician. In 2005, under the name KISHOW, he formed the rock unit GRANRODEO alongside Iizuka Masaaki (e-ZUKA). The duo has achieved significant success in the music world, contributing many theme songs to anime and games. Looking ahead, they are set to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special live event, “GRANRODEO 20th Anniversary LIVE 2025 G20 ROCK☆SHOW LOVE＆FIRE ～Ai to Jouen no GRANRODEO～”, which will be held at Pia Arena MM in Kanagawa on November 8 and 9, 2025.

The Concept: Chronicling 50 Years

“Taniyama Kishou 50-sai Kinen Shashinshuu KRONICLE” is designed as a commemoration of Taniyama-san reaching the impressive milestone of 50 years old this year. It follows his previous photobook, “KROSS OVER”, released in 2023, which was captured by world-renowned photographer Leslie Kee. “KROSS OVER” was celebrated as a work of art, a true collaboration between top artists. In contrast, this new photobook shifts focus, aiming to capture the diverse looks and sides of Taniyama-san that fans have always wanted to see.

The core concept guiding the photography is “Past, Present, Future,” representing the journey of Taniyama-san’s 50 years. Stepping into the role of his “Past”, he revisits his school days, showcasing dynamic movement on a track and field ground – a nod to his younger self who was part of the athletics club. Moving to a retro Shouwa-era ryokan setting for the “Present,” he embodies the look of a literary master, diligently engaged in writing. There’s even a playful scene from his Heisei-era youth after moving to Tokyo, showing him having fun at an arcade, bringing back nostalgic memories. And naturally, the photobook includes Taniyama-san’s signature sexy shots, expertly captured in a luxurious hotel setting.

Venturing into the “Future,” the photobook presents sweet, swoon-worthy scenarios that fans will absolutely cherish. Imagine waking up together or sharing home-cooked meals – moments designed to evoke the feeling of cohabiting life with a beloved companion.
