About the Light Novel Series
The story all began with Takumi Yanai originally posting the adventure fantasy light novel on the Arcadia website between 2006 and 2009. Following its web publication, AlphaPolis published the original novel in print across five volumes from April 2010 to December 2011. These volumes featured illustrations by Daisuke Izuka. The anime announced is based on the sequel novel series, Gate Season 2, which was also published by AlphaPolis. The Gate Season 2 light novels ran for five volumes from July 2017 to November 2020, continuing the epic saga.
The First Anime Adaptation

A-1 Pictures adapted the first *Gate* novel into a 24-episode television anime. It aired across two split cours, first in the Summer 2016 anime season and concluding in the Winter 2016 season.
