From the Summer anime Jigoku Sensei Nuubee, the synopsis and preview cuts for Episode 2, “Mayonaka no Yuutousei,” airing on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, have been released.

A new anime adaptation of Jigoku Sensei Nuubee is based on the occultic hero action manga boasting a cumulative circulation of over 29 million copies. Created by Makura Shou (original work) and Okano Tsuyoshi (manga), it was serialized in “Weekly Shounen Jump” from 1993 to 1999.

The story, using school ghost stories and urban legends as themes, sent shivers down readers’ spines, but the brave deeds of Nueno Meisuke, the spiritual power-wielding teacher known as “Nuubee,” who protected his students from the threat of yokai and evil spirits, often risking his life, earned popularity across generations. It was previously adapted into a TV anime from 1996 to 1997, with theatrical films and OVAs also produced. In 2014, it was adapted into a TV drama starring Maruyama Ryuhei.

Terrestrial TV

Initial broadcast: July 2nd, 2025 (Wednesday) from 23:15 JST, a 1-hour special featuring the first two episodes!
Following this, the series will air every Wednesday from 23:45 JST on the TV Asahi network nationwide via the “IMAnimation W” block (excluding some regions).
The second cour is scheduled to air from January 2026.

Broadcasting starts on BS Asahi from July 5th, airing every Saturday at 25:00 JST.

Streaming Information

After the terrestrial broadcast ends, episodes will be available for pre-release streaming on ABEMA, U-NEXT, and Anime Houdai.
