The highly anticipated 6th series of the TV anime Kingdom is officially set to premiere on October 4, 2025, at 24:10 JST on NHK General. Fans are already buzzing with excitement as a striking main visual has been revealed, showcasing Shin, Ou Hon, Mou Ten, and Ou Sen as they brace themselves for the fierce battle surrounding the strategically crucial city of Gyou. What’s more, the visual designs and voice actors for five new Qin army characters—A Kou, Ma Kou, A Ka Kin, Kitari, and Katari—have also been unveiled, promising fresh faces and thrilling dynamics to the already epic narrative.

The Epic Saga of Kingdom: A Grand Historical Romance
For those unfamiliar with this captivating world, Kingdom is a grand historical war epic based on the manga by Hara Yasuhisa, serialized in Shueisha’s “Weekly Young Jump.” The story unfurls in ancient China during the Warring States period, following the incredible journey of Shin, a young boy aspiring to become a “Great General of the Heavens,” and Ei Sei, the ambitious young king who will one day unite China as its first emperor. The manga has garnered immense popularity, boasting over 110 million copies in circulation. Its success extends beyond print, with the fourth live-action film, Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan (The Return of the Great General), released in 2024, becoming a massive box office hit, raking in 8 billion yen.
A Legacy of Conquest: Tracing the Anime’s Journey
The Kingdom TV anime has steadily built its legacy over the years, beginning with its first series broadcast on NHK BS Premium from June 2012 to February 2013. This was followed by the second series (June 2013 – March 2014), the third series (April 2021 – October 2021), the fourth series (April 2022 – October 2022), and most recently, the fifth series (January 2024 – March 2024).
The upcoming 6th series promises to delve into the next monumental chapter: Qin’s unwavering push towards unifying China and establishing a new “state governed by law.” This season will specifically focus on their ambitious campaign to capture Gyou, a pivotal stronghold of the rival state of Zhao.
The Battle for Gyou: A Clash of Strategists and Rising Stars
As mentioned, the 6th series is set to begin its broadcast on October 4. This new main visual truly captures the essence of the fierce battle for Gyou, featuring the determined faces of Shin, Ou Hon, Mou Ten, and Ou Sen. The Qin forces are preparing for an all-out war against Zhao, a formidable opponent led by the genius military strategist, Ri Boku. To counter this threat, a formidable coalition army has been formed, commanded by the brilliant Ou Sen, the ruthless Kan Ki, and the majestic You Tan Wa. Adding to this formidable force, Shin’s Hi Shin Tai, Mou Ten’s Raku Ka Tai, and Ou Hon’s Gyoku Hou Tai will join the coalition as independent maneuvering units, ready to carve their own paths to victory.

This key visual brings together the new generation of leaders—Shin, Mou Ten, and Ou Hon—alongside Ou Sen, the brilliant military strategist who serves as the commander-in-chief for the Gyou campaign and is also Ou Hon’s father. A truly poignant detail is Shin holding Ou Ki’s legendary spear, a symbol of the immense legacy and responsibility he now carries. The visual perfectly encapsulates the eagerness of these four generals as they prepare to confront Zhao. The excitement is palpable for the strategic showdown between Ou Sen and Ri Boku, the promising growth of the Hi Shin Tai, Raku Ka Tai, and Gyoku Hou Tai, and above all, Shin finally wielding the spear entrusted to him by Ou Ki on the battlefield. The 6th series is poised to be an unforgettable chapter in the Kingdom saga!

New Faces Emerge: Meet the Fresh Additions to the Qin Army
Furthermore, the cast information for five new characters joining the Qin army in the 6th series has been revealed. A Kou will be voiced by Takeda Kouji, Ma Kou by Matsumoto Dai, A Ka Kin by Tachibana Shinnosuke, Kitari by Nanjou Yoshino, and Katari by Mizunaka Masaaki.
A Kou is Ou Sen’s most trusted general, serving as the first general of the Ou Sen Army. He is a fierce warrior known for his direct and intense approach to combat. Ma Kou is often hailed as “Ou Sen’s right-hand man” and possesses exceptional combat prowess and a keen tactical mind, securing victories through a combination of high offensive power and cunning strategies. A Ka Kin, despite being known as an “evil child” due to his personality, is an exceptionally capable general with high offensive power and breakthrough abilities, commanding a unit of a thousand men under A Kou.
Furthermore, You Tan Wa’s “Mountain Tribe Army” will also be joining the coalition forces, bringing their unique strengths to the fray. Katari is the chieftain of the Mera clan, a tribe within the Mountain Tribe Army. Though calm and still young, he is wise and possesses excellent leadership skills, deeply beloved by his clan. Kitari is Katari’s younger sister. She boasts impressive combat abilities, ranking among the top warriors in her tribe. While she may have a sharp tongue, she is cherished and admired by her companions. With these new, powerful additions, the Qin forces are stronger than ever as they advance towards the capture of Gyou. Keep an eye out for these characters and their crucial roles in the unfolding war!
In other casting news, due to health reasons, the role of Kan Jou will be taken over by Tanzawa Kouji, replacing Fujiwara Takahiro.
