About the Chainsaw Man Series
The original manga, Chainsaw Man, is a masterpiece from the brilliant and visionary creator Fujimoto Tatsuki-sensei, serialized in “Shounen Jump+”. Fujimoto-sensei is renowned for consistently delivering captivating works like Fire Punch, Look Back, and Goodbye, Eri. The Chainsaw Man series itself has achieved monumental success, with cumulative circulation exceeding an astounding 30 million copies! In 2022, the highly anticipated TV anime adaptation, produced by the acclaimed animation studio MAPPA (known for hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan The Final Season), premiered. This anime swiftly garnered immense critical acclaim, not just in Japan but globally, being streamed in over 200 countries and regions worldwide.
Now, the Chainsaw Man Reze-hen movie adapts the beloved “Reze Arc,” a fan-favorite storyline that directly follows the thrilling events of the TV anime’s final episode. The film will immerse viewers in the unpredictable fate of protagonist Denji as he becomes entangled with the mysterious girl Reze, whom he encounters by chance. Expect the signature, high-octane battle action that only MAPPA can deliver, bringing this captivating narrative to life.
Musical Prowess: Yonezu Kenshi’s Impact
Speaking of musical powerhouses, the TV anime series featured Yonezu Kenshi’s electrifying opening theme, “KICK BACK,” which made history by becoming the first Japanese-language song ever to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)! The anime’s opening sequence, fueled by this hit, has also surpassed 140 million views, creating an immense global buzz. Following this success, it was already announced that Yonezu Kenshi would return to contribute the theatrical film’s main theme, “IRIS OUT,” marking a highly anticipated reunion after three years.
The Highly Anticipated “JANE DOE” Collaboration
Now, the spotlight turns to the ending theme, “JANE DOE,” born from this spectacular first-time collaboration between Yonezu Kenshi and Utada Hikaru. Yonezu-sensei took charge of the lyrics and composition, while Utada-san lends her iconic voice to the track. With the new video offering a tantalizing glimpse of its intro, anticipation is soaring for what kind of song this unique collaboration from two artists, who continually captivate audiences worldwide, will be! This track is poised to perfectly soundtrack the explosive summer of Denji and Reze, making it a must-listen. To mark this exciting announcement, both Yonezu Kenshi and Utada Hikaru have shared their comments.

Artist Comments
Yonezu Kenshi
When I started creating this song, I wasn’t specifically thinking about who would sing it. However, as I continued working on it, I increasingly felt that only Utada-san could possibly sing it, so I extended the offer. The moment Utada-san’s melancholic yet wind-like voice graced this song, I remember being stunned and deeply moved. As a fellow music creator, I feel incredibly honored by this opportunity.
Utada Hikaru
Upon receiving the offer, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I definitely wanted to give it a try and challenge myself. As singer-songwriters who both strive for individuality, I believe there are aspects where we understand each other better than anyone, yet also contrasting differences in our expressive styles. I pushed forward, navigating through this uncertainty, and I would be delighted if people can feel the new facets of ourselves that emerged through this collaboration.
