Haruba Negi, the manga creator known for Gotoubun no Hanayome, is stepping away from serialization for a while. His current Kodansha Weekly Shounen Magazine series Sentai Daishikkaku will go on hiatus, according to an announcement made on October 21, 2026, through the official X account for Haruba’s works. Haruba also addressed the situation on his own X account.

A hiatus tied to the creator’s health
The notice, titled “An Apology for the Hiatus,” said the decision was made in consideration of Haruba’s health. Sentai Daishikkaku will resume “once Haruba-sensei’s condition has recovered sufficiently and there is a prospect of delivering the work in a stable manner,” the announcement said.
It also acknowledged the timing, coming soon after the manga had returned to serialization: “We are sorry that, so soon after resuming serialization, Sentai Daishikkaku will again be on hiatus for a while.” The same announcement was posted on the official X accounts for Sentai Daishikkaku and Gotoubun no Hanayome.
In his own post, Haruba wrote: “Since around the start of the year, I have been deceiving myself and pushing on, but it seems I really was ill, so I will be receiving treatment. I am sorry to everyone who has been looking forward to the series. I hope to aim toward resuming little by little.”
An unusual hero battle manga
Sentai Daishikkaku began in Weekly Shounen Magazine in February 2021, following Haruba’s completed romantic comedy Gotoubun no Hanayome, whose heroines are five beautiful quintuplet sisters. The series is a hero battle manga with an unpredictable premise: its protagonist, Sentouin D, fights as a low-ranking combatant on the side of the monsters that repeatedly invade the surface and are defeated every weekend. The story follows his confrontation with the Ryuujin Sentai Dragon Keeper, a hero team far removed from the usual heroic image.
The manga was adapted into a TV anime by Yostar Pictures under director Satou Keiichi. The first season aired from April to June 2024, and the second season aired from April to June 2025.
