“Kisekoi” Osage & Loose Socks Kitagawa-san is “Oni Kawaii,” “Kamigata Yosugiru wa ne…!” On Camera Purchase, “Kiyanon-san Koonin ka yo,” “Kamera Waaku Yabasugi!” Episode 19 Spoilers Reactions Summary

Welcome to a fresh look at `Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru` (also known as My Dress-Up Darling), one of the most beloved romantic comedy anime series! We’re diving deep into the latest happenings of Season 2, specifically Episode 19, titled “Omoide Kizamu ze!” (Let’s Carve Out Memories!). Get ready for some delightful insights and fan reactions!

A Glimpse into Episode 19

The highly anticipated Episode 19 of the summer anime `Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru` Season 2 aired on August 16th at 24:00 JST. Ahead of its broadcast, fans online were buzzing with curiosity, wondering “Which part of the original manga is this from???” and “Where is ‘Omoide Kizamu ze!’ from??”

The manga, `Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru`, serialized by Fukuda Shinichi in “Young Gangan,” regrettably concluded in March 2025, just before the Season 2 anime began airing. However, the anime adaptation has returned even more powerful than its first season!

The series beautifully illustrates the deepening connection between Gojou Wakana, a male high school student aspiring to become a head sculptor for Hina dolls, and Kitagawa Marin, a popular girl who’s always the center of attention in her class. Their unexpected encounter sparks a friendship that blossoms through their shared love for cosplay.

*Please note: The following text contains descriptions that may be considered spoilers for those who have not yet watched the series, given the nature of the topic. Please proceed with caution.*

Marin’s Diet Woes and Gojou-kun’s Reaction

The previous Episode 18 wrapped up the incredibly exciting Cultural Festival arc. After the big school event, Kitagawa Marin was happily reporting to her regular hair salon and model companions that Gojou-kun had won her a plushie from a crane game.

However, during her salon visit, she was gently told, “Marin-chan, have you gained a little weight?” This was followed by a direct comment at a modeling shoot: “Marin-chan, you’ve definitely gained weight. Your face shape has changed.” When she tried on her old cosplay outfits at home, they were tight, and she could feel “meat” around her lower abdomen – a truly distressing situation!

When Kitagawa Marin dejectedly told Gojou-kun that she had gained weight, lamenting, “Most of the costumes Gojou-kun made for me don’t fit anymore,” Gojou-kun, far from getting angry, simply suggested, “Well then, shall we adjust the sizes?”

However, when Gojou-kun learned that Kitagawa Marin had eaten the food she had planned to have for “breakfast” in the middle of the night…

The internet exploded with reactions to Gojou-kun’s facial expression, with comments like: “Gojou-kun’s face, lol,” “Gojou-kun’s expression changed, lol,” “I can’t believe Gojou-kun would make such a face…,” “Even Gojou-kun is completely turned off by this,” and “Gojou-kun’s eyes are harsher than ever before LOL.”

The scene depicting Kitagawa Marin munching her way through night → morning → noon → emergency food → evening (with seconds) → night again also drew comments such as: “mgmg Kitagawa-san is so cute,” and “They should just title it ‘Big Eater! Kitagawa-san’ lol.”

A New Camera and Oomiya Park Photo Session

Just when Kitagawa Marin was feeling down after being “turned off,” she received news that “perked her up a bit.” The next day after school, she asked Gojou-kun to accompany her shopping, where she bought some loose socks.

On this particular day, Kitagawa Marin wore her hair in pigtails, which garnered much praise online: “Kitagawa-san’s hairstyle is too good…,” and “Pigtail Kitagawa-san is so adorable.”

Motoha, the vocalist of Spira Spica, who sings the opening theme song “Ao to Kirameki,” was also absolutely thrilled, exclaiming: “Waaaah!!!!!!! So cute! The hairstyle!!!!!!! So cute! The loose socks!!”

Dispensing her usual charm with a slightly different cuteness, pigtail Kitagawa Marin asked, “Gojou-kun, take a picture.” As Gojou-kun prepared to take it with his usual smartphone, Kitagawa Marin handed him a camera that she said “arrived yesterday.”

Gojou-kun was utterly astonished, exclaiming, “She actually bought it!!” He was once again taken aback when Kitagawa Marin revealed she chose the “Canon Mirrorless Single-Lens Reflex Camera EOS Kiss M” just for the “M” in Kiss M, excitedly declaring, “It’s Marin’s ‘M’~ It’s so cute~~~” The internet was filled with surprised reactions: “Canon lol,” and “Canon-san officially endorsed this, huh?” While the camera was only referred to as “Miss M” in the original manga, Canon Marketing Japan collaborated on the anime adaptation.

Then began Kitagawa Marin’s portrait photoshoot. Gojou-kun, acting as the photographer, was incredibly impressed by the camera’s image quality. As they walked through Oomiya Park, the continuous clicks of the shutter filled the air.

“By the way, changing the topic, after my diet is over, why don’t we all go get monjayaki? (omitted) We can bring that camera and take pictures in ‘food mode’! Let’s carve out memories!”

The scene, depicting Kitagawa Marin speaking to Gojou-kun from his perspective, captivated viewers:

“The animation through the camera is incredible!”
“Kitagawa-san’s monologue while filming, what great direction!”
“Marin-chan through Gojou-kun’s camera lens is impossibly cute.”
“It’s amazing how they perfectly recreated the camera’s performance through the animation.”
“Is Kitagawa-san too cute?”
“The camera work is insane!”

The internet was abuzz. Comments like “This is basically a Canon commercial now,” “It really sounds like Canon’s shutter sound,” and “Thank you, Canon-san, for your cooperation” flooded in.

The scene where Kitagawa Marin walks along the curb in Oomiya Park, depicted from Gojou-kun’s perspective, was created using a 3D camera map, a process “rarely used in TV anime,” according to the series’ CG Director, Ren Jie.

While `Kisekoi` (a common Japanese abbreviation for `Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru`) is always praised for its quality, Episode 19 continued to amaze viewers with comments like: “Kisekoi’s backgrounds are seriously beautiful,” “How do they use the backgrounds and characters like this…? Are the backgrounds 3D and the characters illustrations??” and “It was amazing how the background blurred only when the shutter was pressed in the Oomiya Park scene.”

Motoha also couldn’t help but murmur, “CloverWorks-sama… so amazing…………” when she saw the camera scene.
