
During the second day of the One Piece Day’26 event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, it was announced that Oda Eiichiro‘s One Piece manga will receive two new anime movies. The first film, titled One Piece Film God Valley, is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters in Summer 2027, and the second, One Piece Film Baad, is set for 2029. The official website also revealed a special teaser promo and the logos of both films.
One Piece Film God Valley
This marks the franchise’s first theatrical release since One Piece Film: Red in August 2022, which earned 20.33 billion yen (approx. US$127.89 million) at the box office. The movie is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the manga’s serialization on July 22, 2027.
One Piece Film Baad
The second film’s title features a prominent letter “D” in its logo, handwritten by Oda himself.
Manga Background
Oda began serializing the adventure fantasy manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in July 1997. Shueisha released the 115th volume on July 3, and the series has over 600 million copies in circulation.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in November 2002 and released the 112th volume on July 7. The 113th volume is planned for a November 10 release. Crunchyroll streams the long-running television anime adaptation by Toei Animation.
