About Soosoo no Frieren
The manga Soosoo no Frieren, with original work by Yamada Kanehito and art by Abetsukasa, began its TV anime broadcast in September 2023. The story is set in a world “after” the Demon King has been defeated by heroes. It follows Frieren, a powerful mage who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a “journey to understand humanity” after the death of Himmel, the hero she once traveled with to defeat the Demon King.
Magic is key in this captivating fantasy series. The anime quickly gained popularity for its captivating story, rich in both comedic, heartwarming character interactions and serious, thrilling battle scenes involving magic and swords – all unfolding in the unique setting of a world “after” the great war. Exciting news for fans: the production of a second season was announced at the “Anime Broadcast 1st Anniversary Special Screening” in September 2024, and it is slated to begin airing on Nippon TV networks from January 2026!
