Get ready to dive back into the hilarious depths of collegiate life, because a third season of the TV anime Guraburu has been officially announced! This upcoming season promises to take viewers on an entirely new adventure, setting sail for the first time outside Japan, specifically to the picturesque islands of Palau. To celebrate this exciting news, a brand new visual featuring our beloved protagonists, Kitahara Iori and Kogawa Chisa, has also been revealed.
About the Series: Dive Deep into the Shenanigans!
Based on the immensely popular manga, Guraburu, penned by Inoue Kenji and illustrated by Yoshioka Kimitake, is serialized in “good! Afternoon” and boasts an impressive global circulation of over 10 million copies. This series is a riotous “full-frontal” youth diving comedy, known for its outrageous humor and unexpected heartfelt moments.
Fans first dove into the antics of Guraburu when its inaugural season aired from July to September 2018. After a seven-year wait, the much-anticipated Season 2 finally premiered in July 2025. Director Takamatsu Shinji, who helmed the first season, returned to guide the new installment. Animation production for Season 2 saw Zero-G, the studio behind the first season, joining forces with Liber, creating a fresh and dynamic partnership.
The story follows Kitahara Iori, a young man who moves to Izu to start his university life, planning to live with his cute cousins, the Kogawa sisters, at his uncle’s diving shop, “Grand Blue.” However, his peaceful campus life takes an unexpected turn when he’s drawn into the chaotic world of “Peek a Boo” (Piikabuu), a diving club where burly men frequently strip naked and engage in wild drinking parties. From that moment on, Iori’s青春 (seishun – youth) spirals into increasingly bizarre and hilarious situations.

Season 2 Adventures and the Road to Palau
Season 2 kicked off with Iori returning to Izu after completing his diving license course in Okinawa, only to find a letter from his mischievous younger sister, Kitahara Shiori. The season was packed with unforgettable events: his sister’s sudden arrival, the boisterous school festival at Oume Women’s University, a thrilling test of courage, an eventful date, and an insane deserted island camp. It truly chronicled the ongoing university life of Iori, surrounded by his endearing, if somewhat wild, companions.
The announcement for Guraburu Season 3 came as a thrilling surprise during the broadcast of Season 2’s final 12th episode, titled “Kore de Chara” (That Makes Us Even), which aired late on September 22, 2025. The previously mentioned production decision visual, showcasing a lively Iori and Chisa, perfectly captures the spirit of what’s to come. With Season 3 taking our beloved cast to an exotic overseas location—Palau—one can only wonder if it’s truly safe to let these boisterous individuals loose in a foreign country! Keep a close eye on the official website and the official X (formerly Twitter) account for more updates as they are announced!
