Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2024, Etsuya Tenjishi-sensei’s masterful work, Mukoubuchi High Rate Ura Mahjong Retsuden, continues to captivate readers with its high-stakes underground mahjong battles. Standing alongside it is Akagi ~Yami ni Oritatta Tensai~, one of Nobuyuki Fukumoto-sensei’s signature creations that revolutionized the world of gambling manga.
These two legendary mahjong manga, both boasting immense popularity and unique, immersive worlds in the one-of-a-kind mahjong specialty magazine, “Kindai Mahjong,” are now set to share the same table! The “Numa no Tamariba” (Swamp Hideout) on the 6th floor of Keihan Department Store Moriguchi will be transformed into a dazzling mahjong parlor, inviting fans to immerse themselves in their beloved series.

In conjunction with Akagi Shigeru’s memorial day, which falls during the event period, a special photo spot will be set up within the store. From September 26 (Friday) to October 1 (Wednesday), the actual memorial day, customers who purchase related merchandise will receive a commemorative postcard as a special gift.
The Washizu Mahjong Challenge!
Even outside of the memorial day period, if your purchase of related goods totals 10,000 yen (including tax) or more, you’ll get one chance to participate in the infamous Washizu Mahjong Challenge! Draw a “Red Tile” (Akakai) from the box, and you hit the jackpot, winning a special acrylic panel.
