About Blue Lock
The original manga for Blue Lock is a gripping soccer manga that earned the prestigious 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the Shonen category. The compelling story is penned by Kinjo Muneyuki, with dynamic art by Nomura Yuusuke, and it’s currently serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine.”
The narrative plunges into the intense “Blue Lock” (Blue Prison) project, a bold initiative launched by the Japan Football Union. Their mission? To unearth and cultivate a striker capable of leading Japan to World Cup glory. Three hundred talented high school students, all specializing as forwards, are gathered for this grueling program. The manga vividly portrays their relentless struggle as they face a ruthless selection process, vying for survival and the ultimate chance to become the world’s best striker.
The TV anime adaptation aired for two consecutive cours starting October 2022, captivating audiences with its high-stakes drama. Following its success, BLUELOCK The Movie -EPISODE Nagi- was released in April 2024, offering another thrilling chapter. The highly anticipated second season of the TV anime then began its 14-episode run on October 5th, continuing the fierce competition.
