“Evangelion” Returns to Evening Broadcast After 30 Years! Television Tokyo Launches 10-Week “Baku Iwai! Anime-Sarizu” Special
Get ready, anime fans! Television Tokyo is set to launch a spectacular 10-week anime special event, “Baku Iwai! Anime-Sarizu” (Explosive Celebration! Anime-Sarizu), starting from October 19, 2025. This exciting anniversary anime celebration will feature weekly highlight episodes from popular series, including a monumental broadcast of the first episode of 『Shin Seiki Evangelion』, “Dai Ichi Wa ‘Shito, Shuurai'” (Episode 1 “Angel Attack”), marking its return to Television Tokyo’s evening slot for the first time in 30 years since October 1995. It’s a true feast for both long-time fans and newcomers!
Television Tokyo is truly embracing the “Autumn of Anime” this year. From September 29 to October 5, they’re hosting an “Anime Autumn! Anime WEEK for Kids and Adults,” and October will see the premiere of highly anticipated new series such as 『SPY×FAMILY Season 3』, 『One-Punch Man Dai 3 Ki』 (One-Punch Man Season 3), and 『3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei』 (Class 3-Z Ginpachi-Sensei). Amidst this exciting lineup, “Baku Iwai! Anime-Sarizu” stands out as a unique program. It carefully selects beloved anime series that have celebrated anniversaries or are commemorating movie releases from Television Tokyo’s rich broadcast history. An Exciting Weekly Lineup Awaits!
The “Baku Iwai! Anime-Sarizu” program kicks off with two beloved idol anime:
- On October 19, immerse yourself in 『Aikatsu!』 Episode 76, “Bikkuri ☆ Fresh Girl!” (Surprise ☆ Fresh Girl!). This episode is a must-see for fans, marking the first major appearance of the protagonist, Oozora Akari, and celebrating the ongoing release of 『Aikatsu! × PriPara THE MOVIE』.
- Following on October 26, prepare for the very first episode of 『PriPara』, “Idol Hajimechaimashita!” (I’ve Become an Idol!). This episode introduces the adorable protagonist, Manaka Laala, as she embarks on her idol journey, also in celebration of 『Aikatsu! × PriPara THE MOVIE』.
November brings a diverse array of anniversary celebrations:
- On November 2, a special program titled “Ima Kara Demo Oitsukeru! Eiga ‘Luoxiaohei Zhanji’ Koukai Chokuzen Tokuban” (Catch Up Now! ‘The Legend of Hei’ Movie Pre-Release Special) will air. This program commemorates the Japanese release of 『Luoxiaohei Zhanji 2: Bokura ga Nozomu Mirai』 (The Legend of Hei 2: The Future We Desire), offering a comprehensive look at the entire 『Luoxiaohei Zhanji』 series and the latest movie information.
- Next, on November 9, experience the electrifying 『Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z』 Episode 21, “Shutsugeki, Shinkalion Z 500 TYPE EVA” (Launch, Shinkalion Z 500 TYPE EVA). This highly anticipated episode, featuring an iconic collaboration with 『Evangelion』, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the 『Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion』 series.
- A truly historic broadcast takes place on November 16 with 『Shin Seiki Evangelion』 Episode 1, “Shito, Shuurai.” This is a monumental event celebrating the 30th anniversary of 『Shin Seiki Evangelion』, bringing the legendary origin story back to Television Tokyo’s evening slot for the first time in three decades since its initial broadcast on October 4, 1995.
As November continues, we delve into more fan favorites:
- On November 23, revisit the very beginning of Asta’s journey with 『Black Clover』 Episode 1, “Asta to Yuno.” This episode, detailing the humble start of the protagonist Asta’s epic adventure, commemorates the exciting news of 『Black Clover 2nd Season』‘s production decision.
- Then, on November 30, join the characters of 『Himitsu no I-Pri』 for Episode 52, “Tokimeki ☆ Atarashii Deai” (Heart-Pounding ☆ New Encounters). This special episode marks the start of the series’ second year as the protagonists advance a grade.
December closes out the special program with a bang:
- On December 7, a special program for 『Princession Orchestra』 (tentative title) will air, commemorating its 2nd Event. Further details for this exciting event will be announced later, so keep an eye out for updates!
- On December 14, the mischievous platoon from 『Keroro Gunsou』 takes center stage in Episode 33, “Keroro Shoutai Anime de Pekopon Shinryaku de Arimasu” (Keroro Platoon’s Anime Invasion of Pekopon, Sir!). This episode, where the Keroro Platoon hilariously attempts to create an anime, celebrates the decision to produce a new 『Keroro Gunsou』 theatrical film.
- Finally, on December 21, enjoy 『Gintama』 Episode 72, “Inu no Nikukyuu wa Koubashii Nioi ga Suru / Kamoshirenai Unten de Ike” (A Dog’s Paw Pads Smell Fragrant / Drive with Caution (You Might)). This uproarious episode, which includes the fan-voted #1 “most hilarious” story from the “Gintama-ten ~Hatachi no Tsudoi~” (Gintama Exhibition ~Gathering of 20-year-olds~) poll, celebrates the upcoming release of 『Shin Gekijouban Gintama -Yoshiwara Daienjou-』 (New Gintama Movie -Yoshiwara on Fire-).

In an era where nearly 50 new anime series are born each season, Television Tokyo is dedicated to delivering highly anticipated titles during prime broadcast slots, living up to its reputation as “Anime no TereTo” (Television Tokyo of Anime). On the other hand, while a vast library of past anime masterpieces is available through streaming services, this project intentionally leverages terrestrial broadcasting to celebrate a wide array of Television Tokyo anime, past and present, seizing this special moment.
The broadcast of 『Shin Seiki Evangelion』‘s first episode, marking its 30th anniversary, holds particular significance by airing on the Television Tokyo network. Similarly, while the reasons for celebration may differ for other titles, each one has been chosen to create a lineup that viewers will want to watch specifically because it’s airing on Television Tokyo now.
