A Pear-fect Evening on Seiyuu to Yoasobi Getsuyoubi!

The 19th episode of Seiyuu to Yoasobi Getsuyoubi (also known as Voice Actors’ Playtime Monday) aired on ABEMA’s “Anime LIVE Channel” on September 22, 2025, at 10 PM. This delightful one-hour special, titled “Let’s Savor Yasumoto Hiroki’s Favorite Pears, Now in Season!”, was jam-packed with pear-related quizzes, taste tests, and engaging interactive segments.
Yasumoto Hiroki: The Self-Proclaimed Fruit Enthusiast
Considering the theme revolved around Yasumoto Hiroki’s beloved pears, viewers naturally anticipated high energy from him right from the start of the show. However, Yasumoto shared, “Yesterday, I had an UtaPri event, and I’ve been running around since morning today, so I’m honestly exhausted.” His co-host, Kobayashi Chiaki, was quick to point out, “Yasumoto-san, you’re so tired you just said UtaPri!” The ABEMA comment section was flooded with sympathetic remarks like “You must be tired www.” It was later clarified that the event he actually attended was for Tenipuri (The Prince of Tennis).
Despite his initial fatigue, Yasumoto confessed, “Because I’m so worn out, I start craving something sweet, don’t I? I love fruits, so unusually for me, I’m feeling quite motivated today!” While he had previously declared pears as his absolute favorite fruit, he humorously revealed his “contrarian” side, adding, “But I also love oranges… The season is key! In winter, it’s all about oranges and strawberries. Peaches are also going to get incredibly delicious from now on, too.”
The show kicked off with a challenging pear quiz. When asked, “Where is the sweetest part of a pear?”, Yasumoto cleverly deduced, “If the top were sweet, it would ripen and fall from the tree, so it must be the bottom, right?” – a brilliant guess that turned out to be correct! For the next question, “Sweet pears should have a ◯◯ surface; what word fills the blank?”, he confidently stated, “Don’t underestimate an orange farmer’s grandson… it’s ‘smooth’.” When the correct answer was revealed to be “tsurutsuru” (smooth/slippery), Kobayashi Chiaki exclaimed, “You’re a pear doctor!” The quiz continued with a question about the top three prefectures for Japanese pear production. Yasumoto responded, “First is Chiba, second is Ibaraki, and third is Hokkaido.” While he didn’t achieve a perfect score (the actual third place is Fukushima Prefecture), his impressive correct answer rate left the studio absolutely amazed.

“Amazing! Try it, it’ll blow your mind. It’s like sweet tap water!”
After tackling even more fun challenges like the “Guess the Pear! It Must Be a Pear in the Box!” quiz, it was finally time for the much-anticipated pear tasting segment! A dazzling array of eight different pear varieties from across Japan was laid out, including an exquisite luxury pear from Ishikawa Prefecture priced at a staggering 3,200 yen per piece. Both hosts were visibly thrilled as they eagerly began their culinary journey.
Yasumoto’s first choice, the Akishinsui pear from Tottori Prefecture, was met with high praise: “Delicious, it’s so concentrated.” Moving on to the Aki no Hohoemi from Chiba Prefecture (a respectable 1,200 yen per piece), he exclaimed with astonishment, “Amazing! Try it, it’ll blow your mind. It’s like sweet tap water… the water content is just insane!” As for the Kaga Shizuku pear from Ishikawa Prefecture (the lavish 3,200 yen specimen), he remarked, “The aroma is incredible,” and “I can feel the viscosity; it’s less refreshing and more rich.” His detailed descriptions and evident enjoyment of each pear’s unique characteristics were truly memorable.
