What is “Ii Oshi no Hi”?
November 4th marks “Ii Oshi no Hi” (Good Oshi Day). This commemorative day, established in 2019, is named after a clever Japanese pun where “ii” (good) sounds like “11” (Juu-ichi) and “oshi” (short for “oshimen”, meaning favorite member or idol) sounds like “04” (zero-yon).
In recent years, “oshi-katsu”—activities centered around enthusiastically supporting one’s absolute favorite characters or works—has become a hot topic. We’re sure many of our readers are dedicated to their oshi-katsu, whether it’s collecting special merchandise or attending various events.
