Uniqlo UT Teams Up with Tamagotchi for 30th Anniversary! T-Shirts Featuring KuchiPachi and Mamecchi, Plus an Original Tamagotchi Device Revealed
The iconic digital pet, Tamagotchi, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an exciting collaboration! Uniqlo’s popular graphic T-shirt brand, UT, is launching a special collection. This lineup includes four designs of the “Tamagotchi UT” T-shirts and one exclusive “UT Original Tamagotchi” device. Fans can look forward to these items hitting Uniqlo stores nationwide and the online store starting December 19, 2025.

Tamagotchi, launched by Bandai on November 23, 1996, sparked a massive craze, especially among high school girls, as a “digital pet.” After its initial boom, it made a triumphant return in 2004 with “Kaettekita! Tamagotchi Plus,” which introduced infrared communication capabilities. Since then, new series with added features and gameplay have been rolled out globally. As of July 2025, Tamagotchi has shipped over 100 million units worldwide.
In July 2025, the new “Tamagotchi Paradise” was released worldwide, featuring an innovative “Zoom Dial” function. This allows users to care for their pets across four scales, from cellular to cosmic, maintaining its appeal to long-time fans while captivating a new generation, nearly 30 years after its debut.

The latest collection from Uniqlo’s UT line features a total of five items: four women’s T-shirt designs under the “Tamagotchi UT” series, and one special “UT Original Tamagotchi” device, which pays homage to the original Tamagotchi’s device and packaging design.

The “Tamagotchi UT” T-shirts are inspired by the pixel art of the very first Tamagotchi. The collection includes a cute design featuring the original Tamagotchi on the front, and another, intricately embroidered with Mamecchi, a character only dedicated Tamagotchi carers would encounter. These shirts are perfect for nostalgic fans.
UT Original Tamagotchi
The “UT Original Tamagotchi” is a special item that faithfully recreates the device and packaging design of the original Tamagotchi, first released in 1996. This unique version comes loaded with the GEN1 program from the Western release of the original Tamagotchi.
The “Tamagotchi UT” T-shirts will retail for 1,990 yen each (tax included), while the “UT Original Tamagotchi” will be priced at 2,990 yen (tax included). Both will be available from December 19, 2025, at all Uniqlo stores nationwide and their online store.
Additionally, a special website has been launched, offering an exclusive UT original mini-game. In this game, Mamecchi, wearing a UT shirt, stars as the protagonist, collecting falling items and food. Be sure to enjoy this game along with the new collection!
