This latest offering, titled “Long Phone Call with a Worried Father -105 Minutes-“, was released on November 26th, coinciding with “Ii Furo no Hi” (Good Bath Day), a day dedicated to the enjoyment of baths. Fans who missed out on the first installment will be delighted to hear that “The Principal’s Long Speech -67 Minutes-” has also been re-released for a limited time.

In this first installment, Ootsuka Akio, portraying a principal delivering a lengthy speech, aimed to create a comfortable sleeping environment, especially when used in conjunction with BARTH’s bedroom reed diffusers. The BGM received widespread acclaim, with listeners praising it as “perfect for sleep,” expressing a desire to “keep listening if Ootsuka-san is the principal,” and frequently asking for “more installments.” Responding to this overwhelming positive feedback, BARTH decided to produce a second sleep BGM.
A Familiar Yet Comforting Scenario: The Long-Distance Call
In the second installment, “Long Phone Call with a Worried Father -105 Minutes-,” Ootsuka Akio takes on the role of a concerned father. The storyline unfolds as a worried father, living in the countryside, engages in a long phone call with his daughter who lives far away, showering her with an abundance of love. The BGM aims to deliver heartwarming moments from the time of bathing right up until sleep.
The father, calling his daughter who lives alone in Tokyo, expresses his concern for her well-being while interweaving personal anecdotes and life advice. His profound love for his daughter leads him to unintentionally repeat similar stories multiple times, gently guiding her (and by extension, the listener) into a cozy, sleep-inducing space.
More Than Just a BGM: An Immersive 105-Minute Experience
This new production, exceeding its predecessor, boasts an impressive total length of 105 minutes, with a script spanning 35 pages and approximately 30,000 characters. To align with BARTH’s recommended 15-minute bathing time, the initial 15 minutes of the BGM feature “Father’s Monologue,” where he leaves heartfelt messages for his daughter on her answering machine. Following this, 90 minutes of “Call with Father” are recorded, timed for the period between bathing and falling asleep. The BGM is meticulously crafted to make listeners feel as if they are the daughter themselves, allowing them to fully immerse in their night routine.
