This passionate sci-fi spectacle by the visionary James Cameron has earned its own place as the 3rd highest-grossing film in history. Its excellence was recognized with four nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and it ultimately took home the coveted award for Best Visual Effects, generating significant buzz worldwide.
This terrestrial broadcast of the second film in the series is a special event, celebrating the upcoming release of the latest installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which will premiere simultaneously in Japan and the US on Friday, December 19, 2025. Avatar: Way of Water itself is set a decade after the first film, plunging viewers into an intense and breathtaking battle on the mysterious planet Pandora, which has now become the true home of protagonist Jake Sully.
Synopsis
Ten years have passed since the events of the first Avatar film. Jake, a former Marine who chose to abandon his human body and fully embrace his life as a Na’vi, has built a beautiful family with his wife, Neytiri, amidst the lush forests of the mystical planet Pandora. Their family includes their gifted eldest son Neteyam, their second son Lo’ak who struggles with feelings of inadequacy compared to his elder brother, Kiri, an adopted daughter who possesses mysterious powers, the innocent youngest child Tuk, and a human boy named Spider, whom they have also taken into their family.

However, the peace they finally found is tragically short-lived. The human invasion from Earth begins anew, forcing Jake and his family to seek refuge far away with the powerful ocean clans. But even in the paradisiacal beauty of the sea, the enemy’s relentless grasp extends, and a new, arduous battle commences, profoundly testing the unwavering bonds of family and companion.
