The Lines That Stuck With Us in 2025
Anime is full of lines you’d never hear in everyday life. Some make you want to quote them, while others just pop into your head at random. So, which anime quote really buzzed in your mind throughout 2025?
As part of our annual end-of-year anime poll, we asked our readers just that. Under the theme “What was the anime quote that buzzed in your head this year?”, we received 58 responses between December 6th and 16th.
The gender ratio was 35% male, 62% female, and 3% undisclosed. The largest age group was 19 and under at about 29.3%, followed by 20-24 at about 8.6%, and 25-29 at about 5.2%.
A Catchphrase That Became an Insert Song Takes First Place!
1st Place

Taking the top spot is “Mugyuu” (むぎゅ), the catchphrase of Tsumugi Wenders from 『Summer Pockets』, with a support rate of about 10.3%.
This versatile line is used in a wide range of situations—when she’s surprised, frustrated, or embarrassed. The insert song “Tsumugi’s Summer Vacation” from the original visual novel is famously composed almost entirely of the word “mugyuu.” This song even made an appearance in episode 10 of the TV anime, with fans commenting, “The scene where the ‘Mugyuu Song’ played in the anime was shocking!”
2nd Place (Four-Way Tie)
Four different quotes tied for second place, each with a support rate of about 3.4%.

• “Dakara Tasseru tte nan da yo!!” (だからタッセルってなんだよ!!) from 『Takopii no Genzai』
This line, shouted in anger by Kirarasaka Marina’s father in episode 3 of the anime, has sparked a meme. People often replace “Tasseru” with other words, using the “Dakara ~ tte nan da yo!!” template.

• “Theme Paaku ni kita mitai da ze” (テーマパークに来たみたいだぜ) from 『Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryougi』
This is the line Hiroshi drops in episode 4 when he arrives in Osaka. It was already a popular internet meme from the original manga, and fans were thrilled to finally hear it animated.

• “Renako ga warui n da yo” (れな子が悪いんだよ) from 『Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (*Muri ja Nakatta!?)』
Interestingly, this is a line that never actually appears in the series! It’s a full-blown net meme born from the fact that the protagonist, Amaori Renako, keeps ending up in romantic situations with the heroines every episode. It even trended on social media after episode 4 aired.
• “Mi na yo… Ore no Tsukasa o…” (見なよ…オレの司を…) from 『Medarisuto』
This proud line comes from Inori in episode 12, boasting about her coach, Tsukasa. Fans were thankful, with one saying, “Thanks to the official channel for uploading it,” as the line was included in an official video of the skating scene.
More Awesome Comments from Readers!

Some readers were buzzing over “Saa hajimeyou ka Utage no jikan da” (さあ始めようか 宴の時間だ), said by Akaza in 『Gekijouban “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Mugen Jou Hen: Dai Isshou Akaza Sairai』. One fan shared how they used it: “At our school festival’s snack sale, we made a poster with the line ‘Saa hajimeyou ka, Oyatsu no jikan da’ and a drawing of Akaza.”

The polite yet devastating line “Sazokashi kenshiki no aru oyagoshou ni, taisetsu ni sodaterareta no deshou ne……!” (さぞかし見識のある親御さんに 大切に育てられたのでしょうね……!) from 『Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan』 also got votes. A reader commented, “Whenever I see a kind, polite character, this line just slips out. It seems Kenzaburou’s ‘parental perspective’ and ‘Elegant Cheat’ ability have activated in me too.”
From highly versatile quotes to internet-born memes, 2025 saw votes pour in for all sorts of iconic lines. Here’s to finding the next quote that will buzz in your head throughout 2026!
