The Prototype High Mobility Zaku II Joins the ROBOT Soul Lineup!
The iconic “Prototype High Mobility Zaku II” from the Gundam series is getting a detailed figure release in the ver. A.N.I.M.E. style, complete with its extensive arsenal. This mobile suit was developed by the Principality of Zeon as a test unit based on the MS-06F. It’s priced at 8,800 yen (tax included).
The legendary Gundam franchise began with the 1979 series, Kidou Senshi Gundam (which can be translated as *Mobile Suit Gundam*). This groundbreaking title established the “real robot” genre by treating its robots—called Mobile Suits—as realistic weapons of war. It moved away from simple tales of good versus evil with its gritty combat, meticulous technical details, and complex human drama, sparking a massive boom in anime.
This new figure represents the “Prototype High Mobility Zaku II,” a test unit Zeon developed from the MS-06F. Created to achieve higher mobility, it features modifications to the main back rockets and added sub-rockets in the legs. After test pilot Major Elliott Lem achieved excellent results with it at the Granada base, full-scale development of the design proceeded.
Articulation and Display Prowess
This item promises overwhelming play value and impressive display potential thanks to its thoughtful articulation and gimmicks. The signature Monoe (mono-eye) can move left and right, allowing you to give the suit different “expressions” to match your poses and bring the machine to life.
The elbows use a dual-axis joint structure, enabling free and dynamic posing that works with its various weapons and action stances. Furthermore, the back of the knees incorporates a retractable mechanism. Combined with the rotation at the power pipe connection points, this ensures a wide range of motion for the legs. You can pull off everything from dynamic action poses to a simple standing posture with natural, high-replica accuracy.
Loaded with Armament and Effects
On the equipment front, the figure comes with a Zaku Bazooka, Zaku Machine Gun, and a Heat Hawk. Using a dedicated joint part, the Zaku Bazooka can even be mounted on the mobile suit’s waist. The set also includes ten vernier effect parts combining straight and curved axes, letting you recreate powerful thruster exhaust effects for realistic in-battle propulsion scenes.
For the Heat Hawk, you get two variants: a stored version and an activated version with a different length, perfect for setting up different scenes. It’s a highly complete product where articulation, gimmicks, and armament all come together perfectly.
