Galaxy Express Milky☆Subway Teams Up with Cup Noodle for Limited Collab!

The currently mega-hit film, Ginga Tokkyuu Mirukii☆Sabuwei: Kakueki Teisha Gekijou Iki (which can be translated as Galaxy Express Milky☆Subway: All-Stops Theater Bound), has decided to launch a collaboration with Cup Noodle. A limited-quantity set featuring an acrylic lid stopper adorned with characters from the show is already gathering a lot of attention from fans.

What’s the Movie About?

The story kicks off when Chiharu, an enhanced human, and Makina, a cyborg, are arrested for violating the Galactic Road Traffic Act. Thrown together with other eccentric duos arrested at the same time—like the enhanced humans Akane and Kanata, and the cyborgs Cart and Max—they are sentenced to community service cleaning the interplanetary express train, nicknamed the “Milky☆Subway.” But things go off the rails when the Milky☆Subway itself starts to go out of control…

The film is a theatrical re-edit of the 12-episode short anime Ginga Tokkyuu Mirukii☆Sabuwei, packed with new scenes. It’s been a massive success, pulling in over 150 million yen in box office revenue just in its first weekend (February 6th-8th).

Collab Details: Noodles & Collectible Stoppers

This new collaboration will be an online store exclusive. The set contains eight servings of Cup Noodle and two random acrylic lid stoppers from a collection of ten different designs featuring the main cast.

It’s a limited quantity item priced at 2,000 yen (tax included, shipping separate), with shipments scheduled to begin in late February.

Fans are already buzzing with comments like, “I can sense a scramble for these coming!” and “This is the kind of thing you just have to collect!”

Social Media Buzz and That Signature Spice

The official Mirukii☆Sabuwei X (formerly Twitter) account @MGUJapan released a voice clip of the character Ryouko asking someone to go buy sansho (Japanese pepper) for her Cup Noodle. This references a specific recipe gag from the series, leading fans to speculate, “So the collab was this all along?!” and joke that “Sansho is going to sell out nationwide, lol.”

Komatsu Mikako, the voice actor for Ryouko, also showed her interest on her personal X account @mikakokomatsu, posting: “Maybe I’ll try Cup Noodle x sansho… Huanho.”

Meanwhile, the official Cup Noodle X account @cupnoodle_jp shared a video of the new movie character, Chief Haga, eating his Cup Noodle with a heavy dose of sansho. Fans reacted with a mix of affection and gentle ribbing, with comments like, “Old man Haga looks like he hurts his stomach every day,” and “Is Haga-san going to eat the ones next to him too?”
