The full series re-broadcast of the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba aired its eighth episode, “Genkotsu no Chi no Kaori” (Illusory Blood Scent), on May 24, 2026. Online, viewers shared their anticipation with comments like “Today’s Kimetsu is pretty gory, isn’t it?” and “This episode is full of foreshadowing, it’s the best!”.

Based on the manga by Gotouge Koyoharu, the series follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons and whose sister Nezuko is turned into a demon. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to restore her humanity. The manga’s 23 volumes have sold over 220 million copies worldwide.
Produced by ufotable, the anime began with the “Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kamado Tanjiro Risshi-hen” in April 2019. The theatrical trilogy Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugenjou-hen continues the story; Chapter 1, “Akaza Saikai,” was released on July 18, 2025.
※ The following contains spoilers for those who have not yet watched the episode.
In episode 8, Tanjiro, now in Asakusa, senses the scent of a demon. A tragedy unfolds before his eyes: a passerby is attacked by Kibutsuji Muzan, who wounds his neck and causes him to transform, then bite his wife, throwing the street into panic. Tanjiro holds the man down and shouts after the retreating Muzan, “I won’t let you get away! Wherever you go, I will find you!”

“The scene of the bite and scream in the morning really startled me,” “Asakusa needle person,” “Muzan-sama acting innocent,” “Tanjiro declares war on Kibutsuji Muzan. In a way, it’s the beginning of the end for Muzan-sama.” Netizens watched over these events.
Tamayo Makes Her Grand Entrance
Muzan, living as a human and called “Tsukihiko” by his companion, disappears. Police arrive at the commotion, and as they try to pull Tanjiro away from the injured man, a beautiful pattern suddenly surrounds them. A woman in kimono appears before Tanjiro.

“Tamayo-san is here!!” “Tamayo-saaaaan!” “Tamayo-san’s Blood Demon Art is so beautiful~” “Her technique is gorgeous!” Viewers rejoiced at the appearance of Tamayo, who later helps Nezuko. Tamayo explains to Tanjiro, “I am a demon, but also a doctor. I want to destroy that man, Kibutsuji.”
“The Depiction This Episode Is Pretty Scary”
Meanwhile, Muzan leaves his family and heads to a back alley for a business meeting. A drunkard bothers him; Muzan dispatches him instantly. He then presses his companion, asking “Do I look pale?” before he…
“The depiction this episode is pretty scary,” “This part was really terrifying the first time,” “Kimetsu no Yaiba is pretty gory for kids, lol,” “A bit too gory for 9 AM? Is that okay?? lol” “The imagery does make you worry about airing it in the morning.” The scene where Muzan pierces the woman’s forehead and feeds her his demon blood, leading to her death, drew concerned reactions online.

“Nezuko Is Well Known in Town as a Beauty!”
After the chaos, Tanjiro eats the udon he missed earlier. On his way back, a man is waiting. Yushiro, who was watching the commotion with Tamayo, offers to take Tanjiro and Nezuko to Tamayo. But upon seeing Nezuko, Yushiro blurts out, “Isn’t that a demon? And a plain-looking woman (shikome) at that.” Tanjiro is taken aback.

Realizing Yushiro called Nezuko “shikome” (ugly), Tanjiro retorts, “Nezuko was well known in town as a beauty!” This exchange got fans excited.
“The moment he said ‘shikome,’ Tanjiro went berserk lol” “I love the comedy parts” “Big brother furious! lol” “Even as a demon, Nezuko’s dejected face” “Called ugly then slumped… Nezuko-chan is cute lol” “Nezuko must be very beautiful, but Yushiro sees all women besides Tamayo-sama as ugly, that’s funny” “Tanjiro getting angry at Yushiro calling Nezuko ugly is so precious.”
“Is There a Way to Turn a Demon Back into a Human?”
Led by Yushiro, Tanjiro and Nezuko arrive at Tamayo’s house. Tamayo introduces herself properly, explaining that she lives by drinking only a small amount of human blood, and that she turned Yushiro into a demon. Sensing a pure, honest scent from Tamayo, Tanjiro decides to trust her and asks, “Is there a way to turn a demon back into a human?”
Tamayo replies, “For every wound or disease, there is always a medicine or treatment.” While she cannot revert a demon now, she wants to establish a treatment. She asks Tanjiro for two favors:
- Let her examine Nezuko’s blood.
- Collect blood from demons with as strong a connection to Kibutsuji as possible.

Amid the serious talk, Nezuko relaxes on the tatami, causing viewers to melt: “Nezuko is so cute~” “Bobbing Nezuko” “Nezuko relaxing is adorable” “She’s more like a cat than a demon, so cute” “Nezuko-chan in that tatami room is extremely cute!” The interplay of comedic and serious moments is one of the series’ charms.
Then, an attack by Muzan’s underlings begins…
Tamayo Voiced by Sakamoto Maaya
Tamayo is voiced by Sakamoto Maaya, known for her roles as Shikinami Asuka Langley in the Evangelion series, Ciel Phantomhive in Kuroshitsuji, and the Witch of Greed Echidna in Re:Zero. In a comment released for the re-broadcast, Sakamoto recalled the recording: “Thinking about how to express her dignity, melancholy, and intensity through voice was a very enjoyable challenge.”
That sums up episode 8 of the re-broadcast. In this week’s “Taisho Whisper Gossip,” it was revealed that Yushiro keeps a “Tamayo-sama Diary” as a hobby, prompting laughs: “Tamayo-sama Diary lol Don’t read it out loud lol” “What did Yushiro write in that diary… (laughs)”
The full series re-broadcast began on April 5, just before the 7th anniversary of the original premiere on April 6, 2019. Comments like “Watched it live today!” and “This is Yushiro’s first appearance episode, so I watched live!” were posted.
