Godzilla, the giant monster born in Japan, has starred in 30 films since the landmark first movie in 1954. Recent titles include Shin Godzilla (2016), directed by Evangelion series creator Anno Hideaki, and Godzilla -1.0 (2023), which made history as the first Japanese film to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
The Evangelion series began with the 1995 TV anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, following young pilots and their humanoid weapons as they battle mysterious enemies called Angels. In 2007 the Rebuild of Evangelion film series launched, concluding in 2021 with Shin Evangelion Gekijouban.
