The second main promotional video for the summer anime Suupaa no Ura de Yani Suu Futari has been released, revealing the TV broadcast version’s opening theme song “Ichijiku Kemuri” by Zutto Mayonaka de Ii no ni. from the very beginning of the video.
The original manga by Jinushi began serialization on Twitter (now X) on March 9, 2022, and the first chapter garnered over 280,000 likes, becoming a huge hit. It is currently serialized in Monthly Big Gangan (Square Enix). The series won first place in the Web Manga category of the “Next Manga Award 2022,” and the total print run of the compiled volumes has exceeded 3 million copies (as of January 2026).
The story follows Sasaki, a weary middle-aged salaryman trudging through the corporate grind. His quiet pleasures are the cigarettes he enjoys and the cheerful service of Yamada, a female clerk at his usual supermarket. One night, exhausted from work, he heads to the supermarket seeking comfort, but Yamada is not there, and there is no place to smoke these days. Just as he becomes dejected, a woman named Tayama, dressed in a somewhat eccentric outfit, calls out to him, “You can smoke here.” Sasaki and Tayama share trivial conversations at the smoking spot behind the supermarket. Their relationship is difficult to define in a single word—this is the adult drama they weave.
In this newly released second main PV, the TV broadcast version’s OP theme “Ichijiku Kemuri” by Zutto Mayonaka de Ii no ni. starts from the opening. The video shows Sasaki (CV: Satou Takuya) in work mode and Yamada (CV: Hoshiki Seina), building anticipation. For the overworked salaryman Sasaki, his solace is the cashier at register 2, Yamada, and the casual time spent with Tayama (also CV: Hoshiki Seina) at the smoking area behind the supermarket. Among their usual idle chatter, a sudden remark from Sasaki brings a striking expression to Tayama’s face. The latter half of the PV is colored by the OP theme, introducing the colorful characters surrounding the duo: Gotou (CV: Yukinari Toa), Oono (CV: Toyoguchi Megumi), Maesawa (CV: Hiiragi Youko), Obata (CV: Yasuda Rikuya), and Suzuki (CV: Takahashi Shinya). The video makes the start of this adult drama behind the supermarket even more anticipated.
Broadcast information has also been revealed. The first TV broadcast will air on July 9 (Thursday) at 11:56 p.m. on 28 TBS stations nationwide simultaneously, with a planned total of 12 episodes. Additionally, AT-X will begin broadcasting on July 12 (Sunday) at 9:00 p.m. every Sunday.
Streaming details have also been announced. Advance streaming will begin on ABEMA and Netflix on July 10 (Friday) at 12:30 a.m. immediately after the TV broadcast, followed by sequential streaming on various other platforms from July 16 (Thursday) at 12:30 a.m.
