Illustrator Mika Pikazo’s original work RE:BEL ROBOTICA is being adapted into an original television anime. Alongside the announcement, a newly drawn key visual and a comment from Pikazo have been released.
RE:BEL ROBOTICA originated as a personal doujinshi project Pikazo first published in 2017. Pikazo is known for collaborations such as Disney Collection by Mika Pikazo and character design for the Nintendo RPG Fire Emblem Engage. Later, Pikazo teamed up with screenwriter Ryo Yoshigami, known for the PSYCHO-PASS series, to produce RE:BEL ROBOTICA Episode #β. In 2022, two novel versions—RE:BEL ROBOTICA 0 and RE:BEL ROBOTICA—written by Gakuto Mikumo were published by Shinchosha.
The upcoming anime will be set in Shibuya in the year 2050, inheriting the world of the original while unfolding a new, anime-original story. The newly released key visual depicts the mysterious girl Lily reaching out with a smile.
Mika Pikazo has been appointed as the Key Visual Illustrator for Anime Expo 2026, North America’s largest Japanese anime and pop culture event, taking place in Los Angeles from July 2 (Thursday) to July 5 (Sunday), 2026. During the event, Pikazo will appear in a panel and host a booth exhibition. At the booth, special mini booklets for the original anime RE:BEL ROBOTICA will be distributed, and a teaser PV featuring footage from the currently in-production anime will be shown for the first time.

“The RE:BEL ROBOTICA I created as a doujinshi in 2017 is becoming a TV anime! Through many discussions and collaborations over a long period, we crafted a story about people living in a world where ‘happiness’ can be enjoyed as a matter of course. I myself have been obsessed with the concept of happiness since childhood, constantly questioning life under obligation and restriction. This work, born from my desire to find something meaningful in this world, expresses hope and strangeness through cute characters and the daily lives of various people. Mika Pikazo Profile
Born in Tokyo in 1993. After graduating high school, she lived in Brazil for about two and a half years. Upon returning to Japan, she began her career as an illustrator. Her credits include the Disney Collection by Mika Pikazo collaboration and character design for Fire Emblem Engage.
