Voice actor Tetsuya Iwanaga has announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he has passed the examination for the Disaster Prevention Specialist (Bousaishi) qualification. Fans have been flooding the post with congratulations.
Iwanaga, who works as a freelance voice actor, is best known for his role as Kensuke Aida in the Evangelion series and as Marik Ishtar in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters.
Commenting on his new qualification, Iwanaga said: “While speaking about ‘Evangelion and disaster prevention,’ I felt the need to acquire more disaster prevention knowledge, so I aimed for the Disaster Prevention Specialist certification. I will continue to act with a mindset of ‘being prepared for disasters.'”
Reactions to the post include messages such as “Congratulations on passing!” and “‘Being prepared for disasters’ is so important” and “Iwanaga-san is becoming KenKen!”
Megumi Ogata, who co-stars with Iwanaga in the Evangelion series, also sent a message: “‘Kensuke! That’s amazing, Kensuke…!!’ You worked hard, Tetsu-chan. Congratulations on passing.”
One Year of the “Special Agency NERV Designated Disaster Preparedness Supplies Project”
Gehirn Inc., which provides disaster prevention information distribution services including the “Special Agency NERV Disaster Prevention” app, and Studio Khara, which handles the video planning and production of the Evangelion series, have been collaborating on the “Special Agency NERV Designated Disaster Preparedness Supplies Project.” Under the unique concept that the Special Agency NERV from the Evangelion series designates and deploys disaster preparedness supplies for the city of Tokyo-3, the project develops practical disaster prevention goods infused with the world of Evangelion.
First collaboration: Horica Foods Co., Ltd. – “Special Agency NERV Designated Disaster Food Rations” reprint edition (released October 2025)
Second collaboration: Nagaoka Foods Co., Ltd. – “NERV Designated Anytime Umeboshi and Rice” and “NERV Designated Anytime 99 Umeboshi” (released December 2025)
Third collaboration: Kakuri Sangyo Co., Ltd. – “Special Agency NERV Designated Emergency Toilet Pack” (released March 2026)
On June 1, 2026, the project marked its first anniversary, and it was announced that the initiative will continue to be promoted.
