Second Season Announced
The final episode of the first season of Koori no Jouheki (also known as The Ramparts of Ice) ended with a surprise announcement: a second season is already in production. The official website also shared a teaser visual to mark the news. The new season is set to premiere on October 1 at 11:56 p.m. on TBS and its 28 affiliated stations.
Produced by Studio KAI, the first season adapted Koucha Agasawa‘s romantic comedy web manga and debuted on April 2. Netflix streamed the series with multiple subtitle and dub options.
Agasawa, known for Seihantai na Kimi to Boku, originally created the manga as a self-published webtoon before it began serialization on the LINE Manga website from January 2020 to April 2022. Shueisha published the 14th volume in February 2025. The series has a cumulative 2.8 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
Synopsis
High school student Koyuki “Koyun” Hikawa appears unapproachable and intimidating to most of her classmates. In truth, she is insecure and prone to overthinking due to uncomfortable experiences in middle school. A chance encounter with two boys—Minato Amamiya and Youta Hino—sparks a change. Along with her friend Miki Azumi, the boys are never afraid to approach Koyun and see her for who she really is.
As Koyun spends more time with Miki, Minato, and Youta, she finds herself torn between newfound happiness and a fear of getting too attached. Meanwhile, each friend quietly deals with their own struggles. Together, the group navigates high school, gradually breaking out of their shells and embracing their adolescence to the fullest.
