The official website for the Kusuriya no Hitorigoto anime series revealed the production staff, additional cast, teaser visual, and a teaser trailer for the upcoming movie on Friday. The movie, subtitled Bouhi no Hihou (The Secret Treasure of the Deceased Consort), opens in Japanese theaters on December 11.
Voice actress Mariya Ise (known for Yakusoku no Neverland) joins the cast as Mu Qing.

The movie is produced by OLM and TOHO animation STUDIO. The first season aired in Fall 2023 and the second season in Winter 2025, each with 24 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages, excluding Asia.
The light novel series by Hyuuga began on Shousetsuka ni Narou in October 2011. Shufunotomo published the novel under its Hero Bunko imprint with illustrations by Touko Shino starting in August 2014, and the 16th volume was released in May 2025. A manga adaptation by Nekokurage began in Big Gangan in May 2017, with the 16th volume published in November 2025 and the 17th scheduled for July 24. A second manga adaptation by Minoji Kurata began in Sunday Gene-X in August 2017, and the 22nd volume was released on June 18. J-Novel Club licensed the light novel for digital English release in November 2020, and Square Enix licensed the manga adaptation for English release in November 2019.
