Episode 4 Recap: A Darker Side of the Band
The episode opens with Clematis practicing guitar in her room, still thinking about Arare after Viola prevented them from meeting. Meanwhile, the Mewtype members hold a meeting where Arare and Nonoka happily present a collaboration song. Arare is struggling with a song from the in-universe anime Magical Physical Kururu (nicknamed Maji Ruru), and her otaku side shows when she insists on following proper procedure to ask Satoko for thumbnail art.
Band practice begins, and the group is starting to gel. Arare feels the urge to sing, and the others notice her change. Even the voice evidence from VR appears. However, Yuno seems to have something on her mind. Viewers praised Yuno’s caring nature.

Back in the real world, Arare sets up a makeshift recording booth in her closet, happily preparing to record. Yuno sends her a message, but Arare doesn’t notice. Yuno, sensing something is off, cancels the message. Arare then searches for her old group and realizes from the search suggestions that there is a complicated past.
Arare receives a collaboration audio file from Nonoka and starts recording. The next morning, she nervously checks the reaction to her video and is delighted to see positive comments. She heads to school in high spirits, and viewers adored her various expressions.
Meanwhile, a low-energy Clematis receives a LINE message from Viola while waiting for the train. Terrified, she looks around but doesn’t see Viola—until Viola suddenly appears behind her. Viewers commented, “Viola is too scary…” and “Is this a horror anime?”
Viola’s Manipulation and the Flashback
After school, the Fairy Bouquet members chat about Arare’s cover video. Viola makes a remark about revealing her real name being dangerous, and Bell and Popo agree, seemingly unaware of Viola’s true nature. Viola then twists the knife by mentioning that Nonoka plays guitar, and tells Clematis, “Ritsu is already useless!” with a smile. Clematis leaves, and Viola mutters, “Ritsu has been really interesting lately.” Viewers were horrified, calling Viola a “dangerous woman.”
At home, Clematis listens to old videos of Arare singing and begins to recall the past.

The flashback reveals that Arare and Clematis were close since elementary school but drifted apart in middle school. Clematis discovered Arare’s cover videos and joined the group Rararara Girls, reuniting them. However, peace didn’t last. When the group was about to sign with an agency, leader Utami suddenly quit. Viola had wanted to change the group’s direction, but Utami disagreed. Viewers suspect Viola threatened Utami.
After Utami left, Viola became leader and changed the group’s policy, filming even daily life and enforcing character roles. Viola told Arare not to talk too much to protect her character, but Arare didn’t listen. Viola’s expression turned cold as she said, “Arare-chan can stay as she is.” Later, Clematis asked to do a Maji Ruru song with Arare, but Viola refused, and then verbally attacked Clematis, saying, “If you take away the honor student, what’s left? Jealous, quiet, dark?”
Viola’s target shifted to Arare. She saw Arare’s video views and said, “These numbers will make a good trigger.” Viewers cried out in despair. Viola then set a trap: she asked Arare about singing style, and Arare suggested doing her own song choice later. That conversation was edited into the infamous “erea01.mp4” video, which caused Arare to be harassed online. The video was a malicious edit, but the damage was done. Arare fled the group’s meeting place, and Viola stopped Clematis from chasing her, saying, “Are you on the side of the bad kid? Even though you’re an honor student?” with a smile.
Back in the present, Fairy Bouquet announces their first single at an event. Clematis looks uneasy, and Viola taunts her, saying, “Arare-chan might show up by chance.” Bell and Popo agree, unaware of Clematis’s feelings. On the way home, Clematis meets Arare and apologizes for not helping her back then. But Arare, confused, pushes her away, saying, “I can’t do this anymore. I’m scared.” Viewers were devastated by the contrast with the flashback.
Looking Ahead
All signs point to Viola as the mastermind behind the tragedy. Clematis seems to be treated as a “plaything” by Viola. Episode 5 is scheduled to air on July 16, 2026. Fans are bracing for more tension and drama.
