Kouji Miura‘s Ao no Hako (Blue Box) manga has officially ended its run, concluding with chapter 250 in the 33rd issue of Weekly Shounen Jump magazine on Monday. The series ran for five years.
Manga Details
Miura originally drew the sports romance manga as a one-shot in Weekly Shounen Jump in August 2020. The full serialization began in the same magazine the following April. Shueisha published the 26th volume on July 3. The 27th volume is scheduled for release on October 2, and the 28th and final volume will go on sale on December 4.
Anime Adaptation
Produced by Telecom Animation Film, the first season aired in Fall 2024. Netflix simulcasted the anime worldwide with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages. The second season is produced by Electric Circus and is scheduled to premiere on TBS on October 4.
English Release
Viz Media licensed the manga in English in April 2021. The 20th volume went on sale on May 5, with the 21st volume scheduled for an August 4 release. Shueisha is also publishing the manga in English on its Manga Plus website and app.
Synopsis
Taiki Inomata, a third-year student in junior high, attends Eimei Academy, an integrated school with a major sports program. Having joined the high school badminton team, Taiki tries to attend open practice as early as possible. But no matter how early he goes, he always arrives second in the gymnasium. The person one step ahead of him is Chinatsu Kano, a first-year student in senior high and Taiki’s crush.
Chinatsu is the rising star of the basketball team, and the gap between her and Taiki could not be greater. Although Taiki is a decent badminton player, his popularity is nowhere near Chinatsu’s, making it even less likely for his feelings to be reciprocated. However, in a strange twist of fate, she ends up living in Taiki’s house!
