The summer 2026 anime Futsutsukana Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga ~Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den~ has released the synopsis and preview cuts for its first episode, titled “Futsutsukana Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga,” which will begin airing on July 12, 2026 (Sunday) on the TV Tokyo network.
Based on the light novel series by Nakamura Satsuki published under Ichijinsha Novels, the story is a Chinese palace body-swap reversal drama. The series has won awards including the light novel category of the “CMOA Minna ga Erabu 2023 Denshi Comic Taishou” and ranked first in the female-oriented light novel category of the “BookLive Nenkan Ranking 2023.” As of September 2025, the series has surpassed 4 million copies in cumulative circulation including digital editions.

The story is set in the Suuguu (Hina Palace), where princesses from five noble families are gathered to train as future consorts. Linglin of the Huang family is beloved as the “Prince’s Butterfly,” but on the night of the Qiqiao Festival, she is swapped into the body of Zhu Huiyue, a hated villainess from the Zhu family. Realizing that her execution has already been decided, Linglin—who has been sickly and close to death since childhood—is actually delighted to have a healthy body. With an iron will, she enjoys her freedom even when exiled to a dilapidated hut, overcoming adversity with her innate brightness and kindness. Meanwhile, Huiyue, who envied and resented Linglin, begins to waver as she comes into contact with Linglin’s true personality. What will become of the swapped fates of these two opposite girls?
