Puppet Sunsun is officially joining the lineup of McDonald’s Happy Set for the very first time. The beloved character will appear in a limited-time collaboration starting August 28, 2026, at McDonald’s locations across Japan.
For those unfamiliar, Puppet Sunsun is a popular content series centered on Sunsun, a blue, fluffy puppet character who lives in the puppet country of Toohock. As a 6-year-old boy, Sunsun enjoys everyday adventures with his best friend Nonnon and his grandpa Zonzon. The series shares heartwarming moments through short movies and manga posted on social media, where it has amassed over 3.5 million followers. The franchise has also expanded to TV short programs and a regular radio show.
The Happy Set collaboration features a set of four original sticker designs that combine Sunsun, Nonnon, and Zonzon with McDonald’s motifs. Each set includes a variety of cute stickers that fans can use to decorate their belongings.
In addition to the stickers, McDonald’s official app “My McDonald’s Rewards” will offer three exclusive smartphone wallpapers to celebrate the release. These wallpapers will be available from August 28 through September 10, 2026.
The announcement was made on McDonald’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, where a promotional video was also shared. Fans have already expressed their excitement, with comments like “Ahh, so cute!” and “I haven’t been to McDonald’s in a while, I have to go!” Others simply wrote “This is real?!” and “I need those stickers!”
The Happy Set “Puppet Sunsun” will be available for about two weeks starting August 28, 2026, at participating McDonald’s stores nationwide. The set is priced at 510 yen and up.
