The television anime adaptation of Kamisama Gakkou no Ochikobore has been announced. The series is a spiritual school drama described as “psychic powers × academy × conspiracy,” based on the manga by Natsu Hyuuga and Modomu Akagawa.
Hyuuga, best known as the author of The Apothecary Diaries, is tackling her first original shoujo manga with this project. The manga is serialized in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine, and its combined print circulation has surpassed 1.7 million copies as of volume 15.
Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual featuring the main characters has been released. The visual shows Hiya Nagi—the protagonist who ends up attending the God School despite lacking supernatural powers—alongside Tsukuyomi no Mikoto, one of the country’s highest-ranking deities, and Edou Touta, Nagi’s classmate from a family that runs a large shrine. They stand before a tall torii gate, with red maple leaves framing the stone steps below.

A celebratory illustration from the creators was also shared.

Both the original author and the manga artist have offered congratulatory comments, and a trial reading campaign has been launched to commemorate the adaptation. The official anime X account and website have also opened.
Original Story Author: Natsu Hyuuga

“It’s an anime adaptation! I’ll be able to hear and see Nagi, Takeru, Tsukuyomi, and Touta move and talk. What a wonderful thing. This is all thanks to everyone involved in production and the readers. To my past self who started writing after the editor said, ‘It’s Hana to Yume, and the manga will be drawn by Akagawa-sensei’—you’re getting an anime! What I can do now is write the rest of the story and perhaps pray to the gods. Thank you for your support.”
Manga Artist: Modomu Akagawa

“Thank you for the TV anime adaptation! As the manga artist in charge of the comic version, I couldn’t be happier. I’m filled with gratitude to Natsu Hyuuga-sensei, the editors, the anime production team, everyone who cooperated, and all the readers who supported us. As a fan myself, I’m looking forward to seeing the characters of the God School move and speak vividly!”
