About Tokyo Revengers
Tokyo Revengers is based on Ken Wakui’s time-leap suspense manga Tokyo卍Revengers, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2017 to 2022. It won the shonen category at the 44th Kodansha Manga Awards. The TV anime follows Hanagaki Takemichi, a former delinquent whose peak was middle school. After the death of Tachibana Hinata, his only lover from middle school, he time-leaps 12 years into the past to save her and change the version of himself who kept running away.
Season 1 adapted the 8/3 Conflict and Bloody Halloween arcs and aired from April to September 2021. Season 2, Christmas Showdown, aired from January to April 2023, followed by Season 3, Tenjiku Arc, from October to December that same year. The franchise has also expanded into live-action films and stage adaptations.
The October premiere, Three Deities War Arc, is Season 4. After the Tokyo Manji Kai and Tenjiku conflict ends in tragedy, each character moves forward carrying sorrow. Takemichi feels fear toward the deceased Kisaki Tetta. After hearing everything about the time leap, Mikey, or Sano Manjirou, makes a decision. Having ended the battle and left the past, Takemichi finally reaches the best future in which Hinata is alive. But ‘he’ is not there.
In a world that has entered the ‘Three Deities Era,’ with three teams fighting for supremacy, the final revenge begins. Kodaira Maki directs, with animation production by Liden Films. Shin Yuuki voices Hanagaki Takemichi and others.
