Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc Episode 2 Rebroadcast: Rengoku’s ‘Aniki’ Scenes Wow Fans, Cast Comments from Eguchi Takuya and Senbonmatsu Sayaka

On October 18, 2026, the full rebroadcast of the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series aired Mugen Train Arc Episode 2, “Fukai Nemuri” (Deep Sleep). The newly updated opening drew emotional reactions from viewers, with comments like “Just the OP makes me cry” and “I teared up just watching the OP video.” The theme song also changed to LiSA’s “Akeboshi” starting with this episode.

The anime is based on Gotouge Koyoharu’s manga and produced by ufotable. The series began in April 2019 with the TV anime Kimetsu no Yaiba Kamado Tanjirou Risshi-hen. Following the May 2024 broadcast of Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Geiko-hen, the story continues in the three-part film Gekijouban “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Mugen Jou-hen, with “Daiisshou Akaza Sairai” released on July 18, 2025.

Note: This article contains spoilers for Episode 2 of the Mugen Train Arc.

Rengoku’s Grand Entrance: “Umai! Umai! Umai!”

Tanjirou finally boards the Mugen Train, accompanied by Agatsuma Zenitsu and Hashibira Inosuke, to search for Flame Hashira Rengoku Kyoujurou. Tanjirou, who remembered Rengoku’s flashy hair and scent, expected to find him quickly. Following the sound of “Umai! Umai! Umai!” (Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!), he instead finds Rengoku devouring station bento boxes. Rengoku, it turns out, is a rather unusual person.

Viewers were delighted by his impactful entrance: “He’s here! The Umai barrage,” “I love how the anime adds more ‘Umai’ than the original manga,” “The bento Rengoku is eating looks incredibly delicious,” “The empty bento boxes lol, there are too many,” and “I heard that thanks to Rengoku, more kids started properly saying ‘Umai!’ when they eat.”

After introducing himself, Tanjirou receives a message from his Kasugai Crow that damage from the Mugen Train has expanded and that they will join forces with Rengoku. Tanjirou then tries to ask about his father and the “Hinokami Kagura: Enbu,” but Rengoku simply says, “Hmm. But I don’t know!” and ends the topic. He follows up with, “You should become my tsuguko!”

When Rengoku learns that Tanjirou’s sword is black, he says he has never seen a black swordsman become a Hashira. “I’ll train you! You can rest easy!” he declares confidently. Rengoku is certainly strange, but he seems like a caring person.

These occasional comical exchanges are part of Kimetsu no Yaiba‘s charm. Fans online reacted: “I laughed here,” “The conversation doesn’t match at all lol,” “Even his way of talking is passionate,” “After knowing the other Hashira, Rengoku is an interesting person,” and “Rengoku is strange, but his caring side is his charm.”

A Demon Appears on the Mugen Train

When Rengoku says, “We don’t know when a demon will appear,” Zenitsu becomes frightened. The conductor arrives, takes the tickets, and punches them, but the conductor looks unwell. At that moment, a demonic presence fills the air.

A large demon suddenly appears in the car. Rengoku stands in its way and declares, “If you bare your fangs at innocent people, this Rengoku’s crimson flame blade will burn you to the bone!” He uses Flame Breathing First Form: Shiranui to defeat the demon in a single strike.

Fans were thrilled by Rengoku’s fluid attack: “Rengoku’s sword draw is here!”, “I love the battle scenes from here, I get goosebumps every time I watch it,” and “Shiranui is way too cool!!!!!”

Feeling more demon presences, Rengoku heads to another car. He rescues a male passenger with a princess carry, then uses Flame Breathing Second Form: Nobori En Ten to cleanly behead another demon. Tanjirou and the others are deeply impressed. “A-a-amazing, Aniki! What splendid swordsmanship! Please make me your disciple!” Tanjirou begs, and Zenitsu and Inosuke quickly add, “Me too” and “Me too” in their own dialects.

“I’ll take care of all of you!” Rengoku replies.

“Rengoku no Anikii~! Anikii! Anikii!”

Rengoku is strong and reliable. The car is filled with the laughter of the four. Viewers joined in the excitement: “Rengoku no Anikii~!”, “Aniki! Rengoku no Anikii~!!!!!”, “Cool, cool, cool,” and “Surrounding Laughing Aniki and going around is cute lol.”

Enmu’s Trap: “Sleep Well”

Meanwhile, the conductor reports, “As instructed, I punched the tickets and put them to sleep.” The one giving the order is a creepy creature with a mouth on its wrist—the severed hand of Lower Rank One of the Twelve Kizuki, Enmu. Enmu’s hand puts the conductor to sleep, then instructs four children. Tanjirou and the others fall into a deep sleep in their seats.

Enmu’s main body is on the roof of the Mugen Train, laughing, “How happy to die while dreaming.” Enmu plans to make them sleep, destroy the core of their spirit, and kill them. The four children tie ropes to Rengoku, Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Inosuke respectively.

Viewers reacted to Enmu with disgust: “His instructions are precise, good boss lol,” and “His nastiness and bottomless malice are abnormal.” Some also noted the luxurious casting of the children: “Eguchi-san is used here? Kimetsu always uses voice actors so luxuriously.”

Cast Comments from Eguchi Takuya, Senbonmatsu Sayaka, and Nakamura Shuugo

The official Kimetsu no Yaiba account releases cast comments every week to commemorate the full rebroadcast. This time, three of the four children provided comments.

Eguchi Takuya voices the young man who enters Tanjirou’s dream. He is known for roles such as Hikigaya Hachiman in Oregairu and Loid Forger in SPY×FAMILY.

“Please enjoy the rebroadcast while feeling Enmu’s bewitching nature and the ephemerality of the young men who enter the dream!”

Senbonmatsu Sayaka voices the girl who enters Rengoku’s dream. She is popular for roles such as Marcille in Dungeon Meshi and Watanabe Sarasa in Kageki Shoujo!!.

“I appeared as the girl who enters Rengoku-san’s dream, and the many people who spoke to me about it is an unforgettable memory!”

Nakamura Shuugo also voices the passenger who is princess-carried by Rengoku. He has played Miyagi Ryouta in the film THE FIRST SLAM DUNK and Gagamaru Gin in Blue Lock.

“I remember how intense the pressure was every time Rengoku (Hino-san) said ‘Umai!!’ during recording!”

Tanjirou’s Dream

Enmu shows Tanjirou a dream. There, he sees his mother, younger brother, and sister—the family he lost on that day. Viewers were moved: “Tanjirou’s dream is really painful and suffocating,” “Tanjirou looks happy spending time with his family in the dream,” “The pain when you wake up after seeing someone you can never meet again or someone important in a dream,” and “Of course you’d want to go back to before the bad things in the past, even in a dream…”

Can Tanjirou and the others wake up from their dreams?

What’s Next
