Kimi no Na wa. 10th Anniversary Brings Back Hida City Bookmarks and Library Displays

The anime film Kimi no Na wa. is marking 10 years since its release, and Gifu Prefecture’s Hida City, a model setting for the movie, is celebrating with commemorative bookmarks and revived displays. At the Hida Furukawa Machinaka Tourist Information Center, four bookmark designs are being distributed free of charge, while the Hida City Library is bringing back notices and bookmarks that drew attention when the film first opened.

A 10-Year Milestone for a Film Tied to Hida

Directed by Shinkai Makoto, Kimi no Na wa. was released on August 26, 2016, and reaches its 10th anniversary in 2026. Hida City, which inspired scenery in the film, continues to attract many fans from Japan and overseas.

Four Free Anniversary Bookmarks

Expressing gratitude to fans who have visited Hida and the wish to meet again in Hida, the Hida Furukawa Machinaka Tourist Information Center is offering free 10th Anniversary Bookmarks. Distribution began on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and will end when supplies run out.

The bookmarks come in four designs featuring Hida-Furukawa Station, Hida City Library, Ochiai Bus Stop, and Keta Wakamiya Shrine. They are available at the information center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with one bookmark per person.

Library Revives Popular Displays and Bookmarks

At Hida City Library, which served as a model for the film, notices and bookmarks that became popular on social media around the time of release are being recreated. The notices are set up at the library entrance, and the bookmarks are distributed free of charge at the Kimi no Na wa. corner next to the restroom. Distribution began on Wednesday, August 26.

Visitors to Hida can also enjoy more than the film’s model locations: the Hida-Furukawa townscape, the white-walled storehouse streets along the Setogawa River, and local food. With 10 years having passed since the release, the anniversary bookmarks offer a chance to take a walk through town.
