Get Ready for Musical Merch with Mao Mao and Jinshi!

Exciting new goods have been announced featuring Mao Mao and Jinshi from the hit TV anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (also known as The Apothecary Diaries) playing instruments! These items will be available at the “POP UP SHOP in TOWER RECORDS” event running from January 22 to February 1, 2026, across four Tower Records locations.

About the Series

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is a mystery entertainment series set in the imperial harem, written by Natsu Hyuuga and published under Hero Bunko. It follows the story of Mao Mao, a young girl serving as a “poison tester,” who gets dragged into solving complex cases by the eunuch Jinshi. The series has also been adapted into two manga versions serialized in Monthly Big Gangan and Monthly Sunday GX.

The TV anime’s first season aired from October 2023 with 24 episodes, captivating audiences with its blend of mystery and drama—even snagging the Special Award at the “TVer Award 2023.” The second season premiered in January 2025 for two consecutive cours, and fans have more to look forward to with a third season and the series’ first movie adaptation already greenlit!

New “Performance Version” Goods

The pop-up shop will showcase brand-new merchandise featuring specially illustrated artwork of Mao Mao and Jinshi in a “performance” theme. What instruments could our favorite duo be playing together? The lineup includes a variety of items perfect for any fan.

Among the new releases are trading items like can badges, bromides, and acrylic cards, each with multiple designs to collect. All items will be available for advance sale at the pop-up shop before hitting online stores like AMNIBUS and Animate. As an event bonus, for every 2,000 yen (tax included) spent on eligible goods, you’ll receive one random postcard from a set of five designs.
