King Gnu’s “AIZO” Blasts to #1 on the Charts!
The new song “AIZO” by King Gnu, which serves as the opening theme for the TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 “Shimei Kairyū Zenpen” (it can be translated as “The Culling Game: First Half”), has snatched the top spot! It debuted at #1 on the Oricon Weekly Digital Single Ranking announced on January 14th.
Despite only three days of tracking, the song managed an impressive first-week download count of 20,000. This makes it King Gnu’s seventh digital single to reach #1. The track hit a major milestone right out of the gate, amassing a total of 3 million streams across domestic platforms on its release day alone. Within just five days of its release, it achieved a staggering 52 chart crowns across various daily and weekly rankings—a truly phenomenal feat!
All About the Upcoming CD Release
The song is scheduled for a physical CD release on February 11th in three different editions.
- The Limited Time Edition will feature special 12-inch LP-sized packaging with an original illustration drawn by the Jujutsu Kaisen manga creator himself, Gege Akutami.
- The First Press Limited Edition will bundle a Blu-ray containing live footage from the “KING GNU LIVEHOUSE TOUR 2025 CLUB GNU EDITION,” featuring 12 tracks including “): Ashura:(“, “Flash!!!”, and “Prayer X.”
- Both the Limited Time Edition and the Standard Edition CDs will include the new song “AIZO” plus live audio recordings of “SPECIALZ,” “Ichizu,” and “Sakayume” from their Seoul concert during the “King Gnu Asia Tour 『THE GREATEST UNKNOWN』.”
All three editions will contain a serial code for special bonuses. Furthermore, buyers of the Limited Time Edition can get different exclusive goodies at participating stores like Animate, Amazon.co.jp, and official King Gnu supporter shops.
The Anime Itself: Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 “Shimei Kairyū Zenpen” began its nationwide broadcast on the MBS/TBS network’s “Super Animeism TURBO” block on January 8th. The season promises a breathlessly fast-paced story, matched perfectly by King Gnu’s latest hard-rocking tune. This marks the third time King Gnu has contributed to the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise, following “Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0” and TV anime Season 2.
Who is King Gnu?
King Gnu is a four-piece Japanese band consisting of Daiki Tsuneta, Yu Seki, Kazuki Arai, and Satoshi Iguchi. They captivate a massive fanbase with their unique “Tokyo New Mixture Style” of music.
