‘Medarist’ is a TV anime based on the figure skating manga serialized by Tsurumaikada in Kodansha’s “Afternoon”. The original work has won numerous awards, including first place in the comic category of the “Next Manga Awards 2022” and the general category of the “48th Kodansha Manga Awards”, generating buzz. Directed by Yamamoto Yasutaka, the animation production is handled by ENGI, with the cast featuring Haruse Natsumi as Musubi Inori and Ootsuka Takeo as Akeuroji Tsukasa. The first season aired from January to March 2025, and it has been decided that a series-first film will be released in 2027, depicting the subsequent story of the 2nd season.
Musubi Inori and Akeuroji Tsukasa, each harboring strong dreams for figure skating, meet as “athlete and coach”. Inori, aiming for the glorious “medarist”, builds her achievements at the Nagaminato Cup and West Japan Elementary and Middle School Championships, passes badge tests, and finally earns the qualification to compete at the same rank as the “genius girl” Oogasaki Hikari. Her next goal is the Chubu Block Tournament, which determines qualification for the All Japan Championships. Amidst new rivals, Inori must prove that she can shine the brightest!
