What is Lovely MongMong?

Lovely MongMong is a character created by South Korean illustrator rotary, whose project began in July 2018. Gaining popularity primarily on Instagram, the character has captured hearts not just in Korea but across Asia, including China.

Its popularity soared in Japan when it took over Harajuku’s Takeshita Street in November 2025. A collaboration cafe, limited-edition sweets, and photo spots drew huge crowds of fans. The trend of going out with the rabbit “Mongmong” or posting cafe photos on social media has become a beloved activity known as “#Monkatsu” among fans.
