To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the broadcast of ‘Kamen Rider Agito’, a ‘guinomi’ (sake cup) made of 100% tin using the traditional Japanese technique of ‘casting’ (chūzō) is now available for pre-order.
‘Kamen Rider Agito’ aired on TV Asahi from January 2001 to January 2002 for one year, achieving an average viewership rating of 11.7% — the highest ever for a Heisei-era Kamen Rider series, a record that still stands. Its popularity led to the production of the first Heisei Kamen Rider film, ‘Kamen Rider Agito: Project G4’ (directed by Tazaki Ryuta), paving the way for the future of the Kamen Rider franchise.
The TV series ‘Kamen Rider Agito’ follows the story of the amnesiac protagonist Tsugami Shouichi (played by Kashuu Toshiki), who transforms into Kamen Rider Agito to battle mysterious monsters known as ‘Unknown’. The narrative unfolds around three central men: Tsugami Shouichi, the man who is already a Kamen Rider (Agito); Hikawa Makoto, the man who aspires to become a Kamen Rider (G3, played by You Jin); and Ashihara Ryou, the man who becomes a Kamen Rider (Gills, played by Tomoi Yuusuke). As their backgrounds and feelings are explored, a grand story gradually reveals the ‘mystery’ concerning human evolution.
The newly released ‘Kamen Rider Agito 25th Anniversary Guinomi (Paulownia Box)’ is a special sake cup that uses the impressive mask of Kamen Rider Agito as a motif. Skilled domestic craftsmen have employed traditional ‘casting’ techniques to create a three-dimensional reproduction in 100% pure tin.
Overlapping with the catchphrase ‘Awaken, your soul.’, this product pours the memories and evolution of 25 years into one cup, combining functionality as a drinking vessel with high collectibility.
