On May 5, 2025, Tokyo Big Sight hosted the Dai Niijuuni Kai Hakurei Jinja Reitaisai (The 22nd Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai), an only-event for doujinshi focusing on Touhou Project, organized by the Hakurei Jinja Shamushou.

First held in Spring 2004, this event marked its 22nd iteration and has grown into Japan’s largest single-content only-event, boasting over 2,000 exhibiting circles.

Touhou Project is known for allowing fan-made secondary creations, which leads to a diverse range of works being sold at the event. This includes doujin manga, fan illustrations, arranged CDs, and even self-made costumes. Beyond the sales, the event features numerous other activities like “itasha” (decorated car) displays, stamp rallies, playable demos of original Touhou games, and cosplay, making it an essential major event for Touhou fans.

This year, drawing particular attention was a fashion show featuring collaborative items between the apparel brand “HoshibakoWorks” (https://hoshibako.thebase.in/) and “Touhou Project”.

Founded in 2019, HoshibakoWorks is a rising Lolita and girly fashion brand highly popular for its unique designs created by multiple in-house designers and its high-quality items offered at accessible price points. The fashion show itself showcased outfits inspired by 16 popular Touhou characters, elegantly worn by a luxurious lineup of models, including the extremely popular voice actress Uesaka Sumire.
